Its even more of a shame that people blindly eat up accusations that have never been proven and continue to attack a man's character without any evidence.

I think it's a shame that people aren't more interested in investigating these horrid accusations. It sends the message that you can succeed even if there are a series of allegations against you. That's not one accusation but multiple, suggesting a pattern of behaviors... And the settlements don't look too great either.

You say "people should be more interested in investigating" meanwhile you've already decided he's guilty. Seems a bit hypocritical don't you think? Also it isn't multiple accusations it's two. One woman claimed he propositioned in her in the night after she decided to stay in his hotel room and when she said no he left. The second woman, a friend and co worker of the first, came forward later in an attempt corroborate her friends story by claiming he had made "sexually explicit remarks" toward her. And there are people on his videos calling him a rapist. Anyone who has ever dealt with a lawyer, particularly an entertainment lawyer, will tell you they always push to settle. Casey fighting to clear his name isn't in the best interest of the studios that back him or the lawyers that cash in on him. I mean duh. And furthermore "how something looks" isn't evidence. Doesn't prove anything and it certainly doesn't give actresses like Brie Larson just cause to stir you people up in order to further her "feminist warrior Captain Marvel" image. Seriously try thinking for yourself.

Don't put words in my mouth--I never said he was guilty, just alleged. My general argument is that the media has largely not covered these allegations which would paint a much different picture of C.Affleck than the public image he has created. The fact that we are okay with accepting this persona of a humble actor without at least discussing whether or not the alleged acts affect how he should be received, I think that is problematic. I think discourse is totally a given right and a necessity in order to encourage better behavior from those in the public eye. If he didn't do what others have alleged and he continues to stay out of trouble, then great. But Brie Larson is not just stirring the pot, she is asking us to be critical of those we look up to. How something looks should be brought up and not buried under the rug; we shouldn't ignore a glaring dissonance like this. I'm not a prosecutor and I don't know what happened in this case. I'm just saying that the guy has had some unsavory things said about him with little coverage about what's happened and little critical responses to possible heinous allegations. Seriously stop your nonsensical ad hominems and assumptions that I can't think for myself. I'm allowed to voice dissent and criticize darling male actors, sorryboutit.

You know what else rarely makes the news? The number of lives destroyed by false allegations. Where was Brie last year when Roman Polanski received his standing ovation? And exactly how long should he continue to stay out of trouble? These allegations are over 6 years old. My assertion you can't think for yourself is based on the fact you came on this video to spout rumors you overheard because they are currently trending thanks to a base less actress using another to promote herself. It's disgustingly telling how these actresses pick and choose their targets for outrage. Can't wait to see Brie Larson in a Woody Allen movie like her so called feminist counter parts.

I just watched it tonight. I enjoyed that it was a real movie...not action packed and special effects. I thought it was pretty incredible...and believable. Horrible things happen every day and people keep making it through each day even if they aren't really living.

I guess the story was just too mundane for me, like a event that you see in everyday life. Yes, it is believable. Yes, the story is tragic. The problem is that it's just a slice of everyday life captured on the big screen. It wasn't anything special and that's why it didn't stand out or touched me. Sure it's about loss, it's about redemption, it's about coping, it's about forgiveness or lack thereof, but at the end of the day, it's just something many of us have experienced or eventually have to go through in our lives. Maybe I was expecting something else while watching the movie and it wasn't living up to that expectations. As for Casey's acting, sure he conveyed his struggles to us through his expressions and actions, but it didn't show his range of emotions. All I see is his sadness, anger, and internal struggles from beginning to end. It made him one dimensional in this movie. I'm no critic so I can't see what they see, but obviously they saw a lot and gave him the Oscar. Congrats to him.
