Casey Jones really was my hero as a child, I kid you not. I absolutely adored this show and just hearing that song can bring a tear to my eyes. Although it was made in 1957/58 I believe it wasn't shown in the UK until 1967, but from then until 1975 the BBC would have it on over and over again. It's another of those shows I thought had hundreds of episodes but in fact there were only 32 ever made and I'm now a proud owner of them all. It's a shame it's not been seen on UK TV since August 1975, not mainstream telly anyway. It deserves a re-run!
As a sixties child I definitely remember Casey Jones, always used to watch it. No widescreen smart TVs back then and only 3 TV channels, BBC1, BBC2 and ITV.
LOl, for some reason I had the impression that you were a bit posh if you could get/afford BBC. BBC 1 and ITV? anyone could get that with their TV liscense. 'High Chapperal' was always on BBC 2 so I missed out on that.
Only talking about this show a couple of days ago after watching the Iron Maiden. Casey Jones was one of my favorite tv shows when I was about 11 years old. Thanks for sharing this. All the best, Clive.
