The card dealer who takes over the table to deal with Joe Pesci's character is the late Nick Mazolla, who was a card dealer in real life and a specialist in movie scenes requiring a dealer. Before "Casino," he was the dealer in "Rain Man." And after "Casino" he played a dealer in "Vegas Vacation."

Scorsese’s musical director had great taste. The great Robbie Robertson of The Band. Robertson should know “Ain’t Got No Home” very well, considering that The Band covered this song on their Oldies album, “Moondog Matinee”. Levon Helm sang the hell out of it.
This scene illustrated how Nicky was really losing control of himself and didn't care at all what heat he brought on himself or those around him. It was great that Frank Vincent's character got to do the final justice given the crap he had to put up with dealing with Nicky.

Nicky is a violent sociopath and psychopath, in real life, he was even more insane and violent and it’s a huge reason the bosses got sick of BS and ended him
Yes, in the hierarchy of the mafia people like henry, jimmy and tommy were low level gangsters (comparatively speaking), high level gangsters would be the old guys in Casino who were calling all the hits to cover loose ends, they dont have to lift a finger, they can just collect millions and end peoples lives by giving the order.

Both are just soldiers working for the big boss but Nicky doesn't understand Vegas is already owned by the mob and instead keeps on wanting to try to takeover something he thinks is free. Ace just wants to fucking live his life and make money.
@@aiyachristian I remember someone saying that although all the characters are just terrible flawed people, Ace was probably the best of them all since he wanted to run things legitimately and the only criminal sort of attention he got was running a casino without a license which would have just been a fine covered by the board. Nicky however wanted to run things by force, committing murder, armed robbery, extortion and then getting involved with drugs and shootouts with his crew drawing way too much attention, which is why he was whacked at the end.
acountddd then the dealer files a lawsuit for assault on the player and the casino for not protecting them. Then the dealer has a nice early retirement from irresponsible adult babies
The way the king of clubs gets snagged on the blackjack dealer's shirt button and hangs there for a few moments... it's just perfect. It signifies that the gods are smiling down on the scene in approval.
This is one of my favorite scene in any movie- the music to it is perfect. I had a cousin who would act like an abusive maniac when he got drunk just like this and I was always the straight guy like the guy in this scene so it has special meaning for me.
It makes a lot of sense how Frankie was so easily and viciously able to turn on Nicky in the end. Just watch his body language and subtle reactions to Nicky's behavior in this scene and throughout the movie. He was incredibly loyal to the bosses and the organization, so he protected Nicky no matter what. But it's clear he really disapproved of and was growing exhausted of Nicky's unnecessary, egotistically destructive bullshit. Scorsese did a good job of keeping it on the periphery and not giving it too much focus, so as not to foreshadow Nicky's demise, but it's there if you watch for it. Especially after the bus stop scene where Nicky threatens to wanna go to war with the bosses.
I love the way that the mobsters in Casino, Goodfellas and other similar mafia films always look for the nearest inanimate object to throw/beat their helpless victim with. Trash cans, waste paper baskets, pay phones, hand dryers... The list is endless. 😂 Stamping with the sole of a foot is also a typical trait.
I know Henny Youngman is the king of the one-liners, but I counted about 20 funnier one liners from Pesci just in this absolute classic scene. This is gold.

I own a Western Electric 2554 black phone just because of this scene. It was made in 1979 and is still working and solid after 41 years. You can definitely deal some damage with the handset.
This is my favorite scene in the movie. I think it captures, in an ingenious way, the mentality of not just gangsters and thugs, but people in general who feel entitled in ways most of us can't relate to. The casino setting is the perfect context for a very piercing metaphor for the facade of the political economy, what are really rigged games. Pesci telling the dealer that if he had any heart he would be out stealing for a living is as profound as anything else in the movie. It is the ethos of bad people, so rarely expressed with such clarity by villains who are usually always portrayed as one dimensional ego maniacs.
