I like how Bond went from "I NEED HIM ALIVE, DO NOT KILL HIM" to "Sure, let's fight on top of a crane, what could possibly go wrong?" to "I'm gonna straight up shoot this motherf*cker"
I'm guessing it's because he tried to keep him alive through thick and thin, but knew there was nowhere else for him to go. He figured, it'd be better to kill a terrorist though, then let him get away under 'Nambutuan' protection. He did the same in SPECTRE when he ended up destroying a Mexican street against international law, to stop terrorists from blasting a stadium. As international legally unorthodox as that is to do, one less terrorist can't be a bad thing. I think that's the point with Bond, he figures thats a better course of action then strictly following the guidelines and authority
Bond progressively went from caring about whether the suspect was alive to not giving a shit anymore. The guy was way too much trouble and I think by the time the chase was over, he basically got everything he wanted.
Yup. Bond hadn't been this physical since Goldeneye and Craig outdistanced Brosnan in that respect. Also, Craig was a great return to the ruthless killer he was supposed to be as envisioned by Fleming.
Very convincing. The fact that he looks Physically fit to being able to accomplish everything in the movie is very believable. And yes the ruthlessness is his #1 trait
@@Juan.Louis. I agree. Craig's Casino Royale was almost an exact copy of Flemming's original book. The movie's sanitised Bond, but Craig has taken it back to its gutsy violent roots.
First time watched this scene, I was damn impressed by this chase scene, I love how it's a foot chase through Madagascar, and what I also love is how, this being Bond's first mission as a 00 agent, he's shown to be reckless, as shown by how he wrecks public property and then walks into an embassy and causes a chaotic riot involving shootouts, culminating with him straight-up shooting an unarmed bomber in front of the embassy *_and_* a camera.
Like Miranda Frost said about Bond in Die Another Day: "He'll light the fuse on any situation..." This was not only lighting the fuse but throwing a 50 gallon barrel of gasoline on it.
Sebastien Foucan should have won an Oscar for the scene. He sets the entire movie off to an amazing start. Of course in real life, no way Bond catches him, but hey it's a Bond film and ultimately, without a doubt, one of the greatest if not greatest on-foot chase scenes in movie history.
Definitely a great moment. The other time I laughed even harder was when he landed on the roof after jumping off the crane and shakes his head and grunts like he's a cartoon character.
Shit yeah! Best damn chase sequence in Bond history. That shot of Craig running away from camera at 5:53 is my absolute favourite; the power and the energy.
never liked bond movies...then along comes danial craig and casino royale.without doubt the best bond and takes the character to new levels.the movie is breathtakingly superb and believable action sequences, great cast, locations, music.cant wait 2c quantum of solace.
Perfect introduction to the 21st Bond. Shows his ruthless determination to catch and/or kill anyone he has to. There are more than a few collateral deaths, and the way he drove that bulldozer the construction site without any regard for other people clearly shows he that he is not fucking around. I even love that M chastises him for it later on. I fucking love the way he catches the gun. Makes him a cinematic cousin to Jack Burton. 😏
One of the best chase scenes of any movie - never get tired of watching it. Excellent directing, like the overhead shot at 1:19. Quantum sucked in comparison.
That was an awesome sequence! I own Casino Royale so I don't know why I'm watching this stuff. By the way, Sebastien Foucan, I think, is the co-founder of free running.
The black guys name is Sebastien Foucan and he is very good at parkour, check out his other videos, he friends with David Belle who is another person that preforms in the art of parkour, he stars in District 13, yet another great movie!
I don't have any interest in seeing the newer bond films, just not my thing, but this scene with the Parkour was the only bit that got me really curious. 4:17 I love that, I think for the first time in the history of the moving picture, the "Throw the gun after it runs out of bullets" trick actually works! For the good guy that is. THRU A WALL?!? I don't care if he is James Bond, or how flimsy the wall was, that was lame!
The whole point of the embassy sequence, was that Bond made sure that the ONLY fatality, was the bomb maker. I also enjoyed the calm professionalism of the embassy ambassador despite all the chaos.
Its a good point indeed. I believe thats because the movie tries to show Bonds crazy attitude when he started to work as a 00 agent, like he wants to do anything by himself with no help. And I also believe that at the moment he didnt thought about that possibility or if there was no time to think about that. Just take a look about how fast the criminal can run at the building, I man by the time the cops arrived, he already vanished the scene.
haha, i bet the guy who pkayed bond used wires, sabastien would have laughed at the guys directing the stunts if they offered him any kind of safety equipment xD
No Time to Die should've used this style from Casino Royale. Don't get me wrong, I love the film 💯 & zillion%. Cried like a big baby at the end. However, I felt that the action and direction in the film could've been more realistic based and grounded with sequences like this chase action scene here.
There is one huge problem with this chase and also with the movie itself. It's just too damned good. Craig's future Bond endeavors vainly try to play catch-up, only to get tripped up by the likes of Quantum of Solace and Spectre.
No, he isn't. He joined in with a group of friends including David Belle -after- they (primarlily David Belle with inspiration from his father) started up Parkour. Freerunning is not Parkour and has an entirely different style/mindset.
