I've just bought the fx 85GT X and I'm not convinced that it is such a huge improvement over its predecessor the fx 85GT plus. The screen may well have 4x better resolution but the font is significantly smaller and the screen seems a much duller grey colour than the green of the GT Plus. The ability to see what is in all the variable memories is an improvement and so perhaps is the new ratio function but it would appear that this latter has been introduced at the expense of the Verification function which I am unable to find on the GTX. The change to the Store / Recall button is also welcome as it always seemed somewhat illogical to recall something before it had been stored! As for a a much faster processor speed...how much speed do you need! Overall I think this upgrade is one of style over substance.
You cannot have everything. This is to ensure that people who care about looks, don't end up buying the 991EX, and thus buy only what they really need. This is a business strategy, else they wouldn't be able to sell more units of the 85 GTX. What did Casio UK have to say? I am not from UK by the way. I own a 991MS and EX.
