This keyboard is amazing, the moment you feel the keys you can tell is a great instrument. A great amount of the sounds are incredibly good tones. It is well worth the money. Incredible keys action and features (256 polyphony is insane). Love the Warm pad preset, it is suitable for church/worship music. Great product.
Chans, the PX-5S is a four zone controller. So there aren't rules for splits and layers. We already have templates for basic splits built-in, but if you need to make your own it is very easy to turn on a zone and assign a split.
I don't even have one but enjoyed this video and will seriously consider this Casio,I had a yamaha that is now toast ..and really don't appreciate the fact that you can't get to "see the wizard" about your expensive piece of garbage ,I like the fast ...on the fly adjustments you can make here to what sound like pretty darn nice presets.I'd rather play and record than twirl knobs all night ,,,I think this Keyboard has plenty ,usable sounds ,and what appears to be a community where one might be able to grab USER sounds that might also rock.Cant get over the fact that its got heavy keys but only weighs 24lbs.Nice having genius like MM to show his in-depth knowledge of the board! this video rocks.
Hey Mike Im getting Mine Today (((((( Im Exited ))))))) Do they already come with the new Firmware versions out of the box or do i have to download it. Thanks Again Kris
I own a PX-5S. My needs have changed and I now need to use this board as a tone generator using my laptop and software to play the MIDI file in a live performance environment. I have gotten this to work fine. My issue is can I control the volume of my real time playing and the MIDI accompaniment separately? It must be quick adjustments given the live performance environment.
Sorry! I did it! I just don't check controller edit carefully! Go to edit controller, select zone 4 and OFF all sliders but ON 4st slider for zone 4! Thank you!
Re: the Phrase Creation.... is there any way to make the PX-5s do one of those "press one key, get a chord, press another key, get a different chord?" That would be really useful for teaching purposes. It seems like it's possible.... can anyone verify? Thanks!
Hi Mike. Can you assign the expression / volume pedal to only control one layer (f.ex the string in lay with piano. (Piano stays stabile) and strings can be in / decreased in volume?
I really need fast split because i play one song with only piano and with split piano and bass ,when drummer start to play after piano intro for example...If there is no "split" button ,for quick split two instruments ,can i switch fast from pure piano sound to bass/piano split sound ?
Hello! I have a problem with my Privia 5S! I can set Volume only for first 3 zones, but I CAN'T set volume for 4 zone! When I set 4st slider volume or express, it controls all zones, but I want to control only zone 4. Please try it, and you'll see that I'm right! Can you help me?
The organization isn't quite the same. Technically the XW's have more presets but the PX-5S has more user areas. There isn't anything similar in the sounds of the XW and PX-5S though. Completely different technology.
PX-5S should work with any on/off sustain pedal. It will automatically detect polarity when you turn it on so do not step on the pedal. It will not work with continuous (half pedaling) pedals.
I will ask the same question here. I hope you guys actually help me. Hi, I have Casio Privia Px 5s with me and I use it as a MIDI Controller. It has lots and lots of knobs but somehow in my Logic Pro X , only the pitch bend works and the modulation is most probably is at S1 and Mod Wheel lowers the volume or probably cutoff , that's it, nothing else, whereas otherwise in the real world, every knob works. People on Casio forums have not been totally helpful. Could you help me with this problem?
I've searched for your question on CasioMusicForums(dotcom) and have not been able to find it. The answer to your question depends on which Stage Setting you're using. The Modwheel may be assigned to control something else.
Ok. Thanks a lot. It's quite frustrating. I am not able to use it as a MIDI Controller. The Mod Wheel is automatically controlling volume. Only S1 works in some capacity. I use the Defalut Piano stage setting, but does it really matter? I'm curious. Because once it's MIDI it loses that capacity, right? I asked the question by username - chadsmaestro.
XW-P1 could really use that rompler engine and new effects! Or, PX-5S could use XW's sequencer and synthesizer. OR!!! We really could use a Casio flag ship workstation combining: -XW's step sequencer, organ modelling and synth engine (perhaps polyphonic this time) -PX's new rompler engine and effects -Those Hex layers -Sampler -MZ-2000's screen and after touch -Interactive phase distortion(ok, starting to get carried away)
