Unfortunately, with media nowadays, we won't stop seeing scenes like these. I'm sure people have been this crazy, but only recently with cell phones and cameras everywhere are we seeing how messed up entire cities can get in one night. Enjoy life, just don't fly too close to the sun!

Nameless Chief Saying that it has always been like this throughout history is a bit inaccurate, considering that 12 000 years ago we we still hunter gatherers and our brains and psychological infrastructure is the same as it was then. I doubt they were drinking mindlessly and partying till the morning back then. There are many things that we can do to improve this both from the cultural standpoint and from the legal standpoint. Alcohol is one of the worst drugs out there, in terms of health consequences and psychological effects (it has more potential to make you aggressive and promotes stupid / dangerous decisions, etc). Yet, alcohol is one of the only drugs legally available to people. Weed, MDMA, LSD and other drugs are simply banned alongside with research of new potentially better drugs. Furthermore, there are some nootropic drugs that promote social behavior and increase confidence (by increasing verbal fluency and having anti-anxiety effects) and those drugs are legal, but almost nobody is aware or uses them. As for culture, admittedly I sometimes engage in a mindless stupid behavior, but I'm not proud of it. Many people are PROUD of it and actively promote the culture of stupidity and nonsense
Jon Wise Alcohol is not nearly as harmful as MD and weed. If you do MD every week you'll fuck yourself up: alcohol you're fine. Weed is a more difficult one however I do know a lot more people who have fucked up their prospects from smoking regularly and loosing all motivation and ambition.
