I know this video is almost 2 years old, but here goes: I'm looking to buy an acrylic tube to use as an LED bo-staff (into which I will put the 1-inch computer and an LED circuit). Which do you think out of Extruded or Cast would be the best for something like that?
Hi there great informative video. Are there any options available for more accurate thicknesses of acrylic sheets. My project requires the thickness to be very accurate. Do you have any suggestions please. Thank you
Hi. I use CO2 Laser to engrave Acrylic. Is there a difference in the final look of my product if I use Cast or Extruded Acrylic? Thank you for your reply and I hope you have a great day.
Hi @Oncle Dan, thanks for your interest. Yes there will always be a difference in the finish of cast or extruded. However, no one can say, as every laser has diff. variables like power, frequency, motors, size, etc. so you would have to test both on your laser to determine the difference. Small size, co2 lasers with servo motors are considered the best for engraving acrylic, with no visible differentiation in cast or extruded
For me, cast acrylic is a must especially if you use cheap under 1000usd laser machine. It will cut easier, cleaner, gives way better edges and produce less smelly fumes.
@@affiqikhwan9036 The difference is that laser engraving on cast acrylic looks good, smooth solid color. On extruded acrylic it looks way more crappier with rough uneven surface. Especially if you make deep engraving. www.pmma.dk/Images/Akryl/Cast%20extruded%20laser%20engraved%20acrylic.jpg
That's a great explanation on acrylic manufacturing! thank you. How do you forsee the market moving forward? Some are saying that COVID-19 has caused an increased in demand for clear acrylic barriers for hygiene / social distancing purposes.
Thanks. I see that COVID applications for barrier have definitely increased significantly. The increase in this sector is only offsetting, the decline in demand for all the sectors that consumed acrylic, heavily like retail, construction, signage & advertising. So in My opinion the overall market has not significantly grown, and other sectors could come back eventually, and COVID applications decline over time.
@@andrewyeow8824 Remember when "experts" told us a million people within the United States were going to die this year from covid, I certainly remember. These so called experts saying this were also the same people saying "we need to lock down for 3 to 4 weeks to flatten the curve" Nowhere near a million people have died, in fact the mortality rate is double that of influenza which in my opinion doesn't warrant a vaccine in order for people to continue on with life as normal. That's our choice, but by all means if you are scared of contracting covid, get your vaccine. When all the people against vaccines die, two things will happen. 1) All the people you think are dumb for being against a vaccine are dead and only super smart people like yourself will roam the earth. 2) The social security crisis will be fixed. You people crack me up.... We're all gonna die!! 👻👻
Hello Dear!! Good explanation!! I am a manufacturer Acrilyc Sheet, and you video is very cool!!! Where you from ? what do you know about recycled acrylic in your country? I make sheets of recycled material here in Brazil !! Is this scrap expensive in your country?
