Always wipe off so much excess oil. Apply oil only when its hot...and a very little oil and smear it with a rag or paper towel and let it cool. Once cold smear another coat and then wipe away dry with a kitchen towel. Never do such generous apply of oil as the oil builds up a sticky layer...that's unhealthy.
