If you have to do a cast net repair, you know how time-consuming it is to fix a cast net - especially if you have a ripped cast net at the lead line. This hack uses an unexpected cast net tool to make the cast net repair quickly. It is only good for the lead line, not a recommended way on how to repair a cast net hole elsewhere in the net.

Just make certain you file the ends smooth on those little buggers, they will lay you open if you aren’t careful.

Great hack. That's another to-do I can take care of during the winter. It's getting pretty cold up here now. Thanks for sharing.

Great hack! I’ve mended my share of those tearing them on jetty rocks. Dental floss works also. I’ve also found lots of ruined nets and reuse the weights for fishing jetties because you’re going to eventually lose them anyway. 😂 Thanks for sharing! God Bless

Lol I wish I found this a few days ago. I’m repairing my 12 foot net that the lead line was half off. I spent 9 hours and I had a quarter left lol

I used the small size. You can get them at any hardware store. I think I got mine at Harbor Freight.

I repair my oyster ripped castnet until it looks oblong and uneven shape. I may try the zip ties on the lead line. Worried though the cut off sharp tag end will snag on the mesh. Very interesting hack.

Another person suggested sanding down the small tag end. It was a great idea.

Great hack. Working on road trucks, I mess with cable ties a lot. I dont know if anyone has suggested it or not, but I use a pair of flush cut nippers to trim the tag ends. Otherwise, those ends can be like a razor. I'd hate to count how many times my arms have been split open trying to reach in a tight spot and catch a tag end.
