Once again, you have produced another fine video! My grandson, William, requested a "flat bill" hat and so I am pleased that I was able to follow along on your videos and make one for him. Thank you for easy-to-follow tutorials

Thank you very very much for this pattern. Even if the pattern is not that easy but your video is very easy to follow. I made one hat for my father in law who likes these kinds of hats as a New Year gift. I could not believe that I managed to make it. My husband was shocked. I also made another pattern of you (Fedora hat) for my niece. I could not stop after that and I made a lot of different hats almost everybody who I love. Most of the patters were from your videos. I never thought that I can have time to crochet something in my busy business life but I discovered that it is a kind of therapy. So I am crocheting at nights. I bought so many yarns and several kinds of crochet hooks then started to crochet more. It is a joy. I do thank you again to make me feel like an artist with these easy to follow videos.

Just finished this hat. I used the strips of jersey type 'yarn' and while it had it's challenges, it worked and came out sooooooooo good looking. This one and others I make from this pattern will be included in my annual donation to help keep the homeless in our city warm next winter.

Great job :) thank you for your tutorial ... by applying this pattern I discovered that to keep stitching right inbetween the space of increasing and decreasing I always check the no. of stitches from the joint point to the first marker & the no. of stitches from the second marker to the joint point and make sure that both equals to the 1/3 that I divided at first >>> it makes the hat looks symetrical from both sides .... just a note :) thank you again :)

Thanks for this pattern and your two very clear videos! I just finished the cap in Lily Sugar and Cream cotton worsted weight. I used an H (5.0mm) hook. It was a bit snug and I added 4 sc inc. to the back part of the cap before starting the brim.I love the way the cap looks and want to try out different colors and types of cotton yarns and other yarns when it's cold outside.

Justine, I was trying to make one with cotton yarn for nice weather, but I was using a 6mm hook and it started to go wonky, so I pulled it out. I will try again using 5mm hook, and I will do as you did and add a couple extra stitches before working the brim. Thanks!

You can try decreasing , but it may still make the front of the hat big, is it to much to take it out back and take out an increase row ?

BobWilson, I have made three of these hats now and the men I've made them for, including one who is at the end of life, love them. One of my friends, a Ghanian man, said, "Now I am a rich man!" when he put it on his head - three days ago and he's only taken it off to sleep since. I also made the Cradle purse for a little girl who had had a long siege of illness and I wish I could have captured the sparkle in her eyes to send to you when I showed her what it could do; it was priceless. I made another little girl one of your hats and put a flower on it with a scarf and a bag and her brother a hat and scarf to match one that I made for their daddy - children in the tail end of a messy divorce who needed to have a symbol of God's love for them. You are a wonderful teacher and I thought you might like to hear how your generosity is getting played forward. I appreciate you very much. Thank you!!!

hi there The mathematical formula for getting circumference if you know the diameter (measurement across hat). Keep making increase rounds until you measure from 1 edge to the other and multiply that number by 3.142 & the answer you get is the measurement of the circumference of the head

@hatchling88 12 лет назад
I think you're an excellent video tutor, and this is a really cute hat I'd like to make. But I wasn't sure about the diameter of the hat crown before you start adding the 1/3 distance markers. I often use different yarns or different stitches [not to mention different hooks] when making round crown hats. I measure the crown across by diameter, not the number of rows. In this hat, you suggest 6 rows of dc for 8 ply and 5 rows of dc for worsted weight. But what is the diameter at that point?

I was keen to see the end of this video but it stalled at 27.02. I waited for awhile then dragged it back to about 26.00 and again it stalled at 27.02. Thanks for putting these videos together Clare.
