I started making art stone way back when and the process has definitely changed,it was the same face mix (looks like Yorkshire stone, might be mistaken) bottom then pull up the front, backing a couple if y16 or maybe four for the bigger heads, mango Th shit out of it, finish off by trowel ing the backs, lift the heavy things in place, turn them over, lift off the box and my mate would finish them off, I went lame just as the efing health and safety made it so everything had to be made at waist height no bending and lifting,so I was fascinated to see how things have progressed, their are now quite a few firms have cropped up around my area now.
Great to see the process, must be tricky on the arris’s. We’ve carried out repairs on the cast stone in the past but we are stonemasons so generally it’s liver stone we use but not exclusively. It can be a very rewarding job.
That looks great. I see your company aslo does winow frames. I'd ike to have a go making something simple like a post top. How long would leave this to set before moving it ?
Hey man. Are you allowed to share the ratio of cement and sand? Been designing some cast stone elements for my property, but can't find a formula anywhere
