Very Nice..Love the step by step instructions about how to arrange the cords and hold the castanets. It is very good that you went so slowly, since each adjustment would take a long time to figure out alone. You are the first person to tell me that there IS a right and a left, and that the sounds and patterns have the names Ta and Pi. Also, lovely about the basic posture.
Aww Thank you for your comment Cathy, I am very pleased that my video and my instructions are useful for you. Sometimes people get lost on the plot as they want to play and making the Castanets sound quickly but the basics are more important than anything else. Then later one it's a matter of practice ;)
Having loved the sound of castanets for years and, finding these instructional RU-vid videos, I took the leap and ordered a set which will be in in a few days. And, I must say that this is the best instructional video I have seen. Great job!
Awww Thank you very much Scott. Muchas gracias. I am very happy to hear that you have bought your 1st pair of castanets and you are finding my video so useful, I am so pleased that my video helps people with their castanets. Oleee :D
Very good and clear lesson. I did not know about Ta and PI! Thanks! do you maybe have a video with instruction how to dance sevillana primera with castagnettes! I am just busy with it.. All the best! Grazyna
I have just started playing castanets but still haven’t found the right position of castanets that fits in my hands. I watched a lot of videos and I have to say I have learned many tricks from you, especially how to place index fingers on the ears of castanets to make them stay. I will try it out with my castanets tomorrow. Thank you very much. Muchas gracias 🙏😊
Hola/ Hello Furn, :) De nada I am very pleased to hear that you have learnt from my video. It's crucial for you, to feel that you are doing it well from the beginner. Posture, and position are very important, because then later on it's very difficult to change 'bad habits' I am going to run a beginners "Master Class online" this month- May, if you are interested on it, let me know ;) Keep on playing Castanets you will get good results soon, I am sure!
I found this video looking how to play. My mother was a Dancer in the 1940’s she did all sorts of dance. Tango, flamingo ect. Well I found her castanet..I used to play with them when I was a child. I have found them again. I am 52. Anyway thank you for sharing this video.. I would love to play them. Just because her Beautiful hands held them and played them.
