Sohail Castle is one of the most iconic monuments in the town of Fuengirola, forming part of its skyline and being extremely popular among its inhabitants, as well as a tourist point of interest among visitors. Throughout its history, the castle has played a significant role in various historical events.
Since its occupation by Christians in 1485, Sohail Castle has had a turbulent past and has been razed to the ground and rebuilt many times.
The castle offers beautiful views of the Fuengirola estuary. 38 meters above sea level, it offers views of the Mediterranean Sea and a large stretch of coastline dominated by the Sierra de Mijas.
This castle was carefully restored and taken care of to prevent its further destruction and to be able to use it as a tourism and cultural resource. It was updated as a premium outdoor venue, which is now the setting for one of the Costa del Sol's most important music events, Marenostrum Fuengirola.
Every summer the Marenostrum Music Castle Park festival is held outside, bringing together big national and international music stars.
