This gives me comfort as my husband passed away in December. Five days before his passing he accepted Christ as his lord and savior. This song has kept me together. He had so many scars on his heart from a life of abuse. He no longer hurts, he is now at peace.

As I am reading these comments while listening to this song, it painfully strikes me that there are so many broken hearts besides my own in this world. We are all in the same place of hurt. Our 15 year old son took his life a few days ago. We've been struggling, crying and asking questions ever since. The pain goes away a little more every day and God is the one comforting us. I hope the folks at Casting Crowns know how God hugged us through your song.

I don't listen to much music but God used this one to help mend my heart. I lost my daughter almost 2 years ago. She was a believer in Christ. For the first time, I got past my hurt and saw her in the arms of her saviour whom she loved. It gave me peace and comfort for the first time since her passing.

I don't think the band Casting Crowns fully realize what an impact this song has on millions of people, the comfort and peace that it brings. I heard this song driving my car and I had to pull over because I was crying so hard I couldn't drive anymore. There on the side of the road I fully understood the meaning of grace. This song did more for me than all the preaching and churches i have gone to for the last 50 years combined. What a testimony.

Dad died 2012, mom 2016, my father-in law 2016 & my precious16 yr.old, only son 2016. Left w/ with my mother in law w/ bad dementia. I am no starger to the "Valley of the Shaddow of death," got a PO Box there! This world is rough & every day I hate being here. JESUS IS THE ONLY THING that gets me through this life! My big sister died about 2 hours ago.... God blessed us with the gift of time earlier today, after not being able to communicate she suddenly "woke" up and we were both able to look into each other's eyes and say everything we both needed to say to one another as she was leaving this world. Scars of Heaven has given me peace and hope. To those that weren't able to do that? I believe and feel in my soul that you too will be given that gift with those you loved in another time, in another place as you hug them and tell them of your love. This life is gone in a blink of an eye.... heaven is being reunited for an eternity. Hold tight to your faith and beliefs, don't waver.... Gods got this. 💕

I lost my big sister not long ago. I thought loosing my mom was hard. I wasnt pre-pared for how and when my sis left. It blind sided me. Her 2 kids took it better than me. My mom was always at work. Hi Keven, my sincere condolences for the sudden loss of your wife. I know it's really hard after being joined spiritually for 31 years as I'm in the same boat as you. Only my wife of 31 years died slowly of cancer. Never the less, such is a great loss of a spouse. I lost my wife last summer and I miss her every day. Looking back I don’t know how I made it through those terrible days... but I know a loving God embraces her now and she’s no longer in pain. And that’s a debt I can never repay. This song makes me cry every time I listen to it. Just yesterday I found her wallet in the back of a dusty dresser drawer. Her drivers license and bank debit card and I was surprised to unfold a slip of paper containing a poem I had written to her on our wedding day. I had forgotten about it and never knew she carried it in her wallet. I felt like I was erasing her when I finally gave her clothes away. I guess I was stupid... couldn’t give her clothes away for six months. What was I waiting for? Expecting her to walk through the door and fuss at me because now she didn’t have anything to wear, lol. Sorry.. didn’t mean to ramble. My heart still hurts.

I lost my 18 year old daughter in 1998, my 7 year old grandson in 2010, and my husband of almost 40 years in 2015. This beautiful song brings way of picturing them in heaven (they were all believers), knowing they are pain free and basking in the presence of the Lord. My best friend had is sung at her husband's funeral today. What a blessing!

My mom just passed away this last Saturday Sept 9th after a 4 year battle with severe dementia. My dad and I were her caregivers, able to care for her at home. I started listening to this song more the last couple weeks, to help prepare for this time. I played it for her last week, sang it and cried by her bedside. It is the most beautiful reminder and moving song about the other side of death after this life. Knowing she is pain free, no more fear and sadness. Happy and whole in the Hands of Jesus. Now today I am listening to it again and again to help get me through the grief and aching sadness of losing my mom. It’s healing and so perfect to give peace and comfort. Casting Crowns, Mark, the story behind this song and the lyrics are an anthem for life with Christ on this earth and the power of His Word for the hope of heaven with Him. Thank you for allowing God to use you and your talent to create a song so amazing. It is helping me and countless others be able to bear the pain of our loss while we wait for our day to come when we will be reunited with those we love. It will make the days ahead bearable. I just lost my husband of 16years to cancer as well. Today is exactly one month. This song gives me the strength to get up and not give up. I have two little boys that lost their father and there is nothing I can do too fix their pain. I'm supposed to be able to protect them from everything. But this is something out of my control. My dad went to Heaven on June 13th. I mowed the lawn in the morning on the day of the funeral and heard this song for the first time...and wept. The next time i mowed the same station played it again and I stopped to cry. It continues to remind me that his broken body is now new from top to bottom. I lost my mother one month ago. About a year ago she got diagnosed with cancer. The doctor said she had about a 50% chance of survival if she took chemo... she said she'd take a 100% chance on Jesus. For the next year, she never took any pain medication. She didn't take chemo, and she didn't enter the hospital once. For most people, there were only two options on the table: Death or supernatural healing. My mother didn't believe in either. For her, there was a 3rd option on the table. And that was Jesus. She didn't believe in death or healing, she believed in Jesus. He was her reward. He was the only answer. The only outcome. She used to say this a lot: "Whether by life or by death HE IS ENOUGH FOR ME." And her last words were "He's got me." And that was her legacy. She's the "lucky one". She got to live out her favorite verse: "But for me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Philippians 3:10. And what a life to rejoice!

I know my story is different from everyone else's, but about a month ago my wife and I had our 15 year old Dachshund die in my arms. Wow, that really hit home. Sitting here sobbing. What a beautifull song!!! I want my daughter to play this at my remembrance. 40 years ago, I was in a head-on collision that was caused by a drunk driver. I was injured so bad they didn't expect me to survive. Needless to say, I did but my life has been hard with mutiple surgeries and unbearable pain. My daughter also struggles since she has Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, and Anxiety and Depression. Some day we will both be free of the pain, both physically and mentally. HALLELUJAH!!!

While I do believe that God is the only one who should give and take life, I also believe that if a person has ever accepted Christ, then their eternity in Heaven is sealed. God forgives lots of our shortcomings, and I sincerely believe He forgives suicide.

Donnie is gone but he is no longer in pain! The tumers he had were huge and painful! His doctors had no idea how to treat his Merkel Cell. Merkel Cell is so rare. By the time his doctor sent him to MD Anderson Cancer Institute, in Houston, his kidneys had started to fail. The cancer was everywhere, all over his body. It was too late to help him! He asked me to be strong and to let him go! He asked me to let him be with "Toto" and his "Pawpaw" in Heaven. Keeping this promise I made to him is possibly the second most difficult thing I've ever had to do. The most difficult thing I've ever done was to let my baby go! Thank you Casting Cross for this song. It plays every night at 9:PM to remind me of how blessed I am to have had the chance to say goodbye to my baby one last time until, "I'm standing with him in the sun", "and I can see what he can see".

2:33 I have always had anxiety and I always blamed genetics ( bc everyone in my family had it) but last year the LORD spoke to me and I was saved. I am always filled with the HOLY SPIRIT and had this light. But this week I’ve been afraid and falling into sinful thoughts and temptations like when I wasn’t saved and it made me doubt. And yesterday I prayed and prayed for faith and assurance. Today is my mom’s fourth year in Heaven. I am so happy she is with her Lord and Savior being able to hear and walk. I have a sadness in my heart but joy knowing she is rejoicing with her Savior.

I lost my baby girl the day before she turned 6 months old. Roughly a month and a half ago. Her twin brother and I have had a tough time but this song has been playing a ton and just has helped me a ton. Played this song at her ceremony. I miss her more than anything, but I know she’s with Jesus, having fun. I know she’s watching over me. And these lyrics have helped me an incredible amount. Thank you❤️

So sorry for your lost God comfort you is my prayer. Lost son in law March 13 , 2021 of liver cancer and my husband Dec 14, 2021 after surgery Johns Hopkins. Feels like my heart broken in pieces the pain is so great, but Jesus has kept me going getting a little stronger.

Just lost my father last week to covid... He would always tear up when this song came on because he would always think about his mom and friends that he’s lost these last 2 years. Amen, I lost my only sister 3 yrs.old younger than me in May, 2007, 10 months later in March 2008 I lost my 1st born a sweet precious loving only Son, lacking 4 days later I lost my loving Mother, April 2009 I lost my lifelong "BEST FRIEND" we even carried our special precious friendship while both our children were growing up & afterwards thru our marriage's. This song is one of the best I have heard! My wife was recently diagnosed with dementia and even though I haven't lost her physically like many of you have, I am losing her little by little each day. There is a better day coming for her because she is a believer. The scars of this tragic disease will one day be erased because of God's love and His grace. HALLELUJAH!

Beautiful song. I lost my brother to his addiction in 2015. I know he is healed and with the Lord but it’s still sad. I was on Christian radio for 17 years and played Casting Crowns every morning. It was their song Oh My Soul that gave me the courage to resign and devote my life not helping addicts recover. God is good !

@Jo In I've never experienced that loss, so I don't have any idea how that feels from either perspective. But I know that the God in heaven will hold you both through it all. Live every moment overflowing with love. Cling to Jesus. Praise the Lord, even when you don't see why you should. Because there is always something to thank Him for, even when we feel like there's absolutely nothing left for us. You are not a failure. Everyone has a time set before them, and the Lord has numbered their days carefully. He knows what He's doing. We just have to believe Him, sometimes while begging for Him to help our unbelief. Your wife may not understand, but sometimes this kind of thing is where God gets the glory. The Lord can comfort both of you, and show you how He can heal. He can show you out of the abundance of His mercy and grace that there is no one like Him. And, He may not heal you in the way you may think, but His ways are higher than our ways. There is not a sparrow that falls or a flower that fades without Him knowing. He sees your pain. He loves you more than you could ever know. When the pain and heartache become greater than you can bear, remember that Jesus walks beside you. He won't leave you alone.

My grandpa died suddenly on July 6th, a day shy of two weeks ago. I haven't followed the Christian faith for a few years now, but he was always a very devout Christian and part of the way I've been coping is through telling myself he's in a better place where he's not in pain and is looking down at us, telling us to stop being so sad because he's home. But tonight I finally decided to listen to mourning songs, came across this one, and just broke down. I know he's right where he's supposed to be, up in Heaven, and I know the pain will eventually fade, but for the time being it's cathartic to just listen to some songs, reminisce on all 22 wonderful years of my life that I got to share with him, and let my tears fall.

We lost our oldest son this past December on terrible car accident. He was unrecognizable. We missed his happiness, jokes, and his love for his wife, his 2 year old daughter and all of us.
