Thank you for this song! I was part of a mega church in San Francisco and felt like my faith was fading after attending for a year. It has over 1,000 people but did nothing to organize missions, outreach, and community service. There was coffee in the lobby, a lot of social parties, and a rock star preacher, but asked us to attend Monday night talks on purity instead of preaching the truth on Sundays. I had to volunteer by myself after feeling convicted, but felt tired of doing everything myself with no support from my church and community group. Some people organized their own volunteer efforts, but nothing was organized by the church. How do we preach about loving others when the church isn’t organizing ways to love our neighbors by “starting right here and right now” but only donated money like money solves all of our problems? Not many even noticed when I switched churches. Thankful I’m part of another church now that reaches out to the Fillmore neighborhood, helping with the food bank distributions, and volunteers at the homeless shelter.

I agree with you right there. We do not do enough to the mission right in our own back yards. Everyone demanded to worship in their church, but no one demanded to worship in the park outside to go out to the people. Jesus preached on the hillsides surrounded by people lost, or cynical, but they came to Him because He reached out to them. I have attended churches where they have a food pantry for only their members but not the community. They sit behind their walls. Remember the movie sister act where Whoppi got them to go out among the community the difference that made for all of them?

Yes, this really hit home when I heard a pastor tell his congregation to pray for victims of a hurricane that swiped out the whole town and in the next breath ask for donations for a missions trip. This blew my mind! Nothing about the victims of the hurricane.

This song is the truth. This song is Christianity. Modern rockstar preachers have watered down the gospel and made it easy for people to bare by talking about god's love and love and love. But what about our calling? What about dying to our flesh, taking up our cross and following Jesus? This song convicted me. I thought I need move out and go to different countries and do the Lord's work but tbh...I gotta start right here ❤ Thank you casting crowns. When all these churches (hillsong, bethel etc) songs and teachings are becoming like new age, you are still singing the truth.

I love this song so much. Jesus said how can you say you love God when you hate your brother? We have to come together. We have to make prayer a priority and not just pray at the dinner table. We have to make reading the Bible a priority and teaching it to our children. I am so guilty of not making God more of a priority and instead watch too much tv.

I go to a relatively small Christian private school and am in my senior year with classmates I’ve known since 5th grade and a teacher I’ve known since 7th. We have recently started going out into our town every month and praying and spreading the word of Christ to whoever we meet on the streets. The year has been the biggest year of change for everyone in our class, being able to share our weaknesses and help each other overcome challenges such as depression and addiction. Our whole class agrees that God has called us for something greater and to be the bright light in the youth of our town.

I have had so many “devoted Christians” in the physical church who I began realizing only thought being a Christian meant faithfully showing up on Sundays and Wednesday nights but nobody ever went out of the church circle when it came to helping and reaching out to others. I used to have people tell me this was a problem but it took drama in our church and a lot of life experiences for me before I realized that it is such a problem. I work as a public servant and the most important thing to me is always being able to actually work in the name of Jesus while in the presence of people who are having their worst day, people who are poor, people who have been neglected by society, and people who the majority of church going Christians only pray about from the good side of “town”. It breaks my heart but who wants to be part of a church that thinks you’re not supposed to sit with sinners? We want to follow the example of Christ until it actually means rolling up our sleeves and getting down and dirty to preach his gospel.

I always think if you want to know the Creator more hey closer to his creation. He is the one who guides me in all. Whether on how to take care of the plants he created, making a great meal for the bellies he knows, how to sooth a broken heart, or derail my plans to keep me from an accident. Many scientist that have been atheist have ended up agreeing and affirming that there must be a Grand Designer, because the deeper you go into the study of the workings of life you realize there's no way this was random. To me there is no separation between God and "science", science by definition is the study of something, what people have been trying to do with science is find out HOW things were created and so on, but God is the one who designed all the formulas, equations, combinations of elements, etc., which are the life we see and experience. Man didn't create math or science; they discovered it. Like the famous Golden Ratio used by architects, builders, artists and more. Someone found out this amazing recurring equation in nature's design and realized hey! We can use this same principle to create magnificent beautiful monuments. They're just copying what God did first

Yet, we get offended when we are told that we are living christianity the easy way... It is sad, we are always willing to go to another country to help others, but we won't cross the street to help someone in need. Thank you for the message. I personally want to change this, pray that God does with me like He did with Petter, and I can finally stop being afraid of doing what he called me (and all of us) to do.

This song really convicts me. It makes us all aware that when Jesus said “love your neighbour as yourself” he was telling us that our neighbour is anyone who comes across our path. Christianity is taken so lightly now a days. The word of God is on the pages of the Bible, read it, meditate on it, share it with others. If your church is putting more into their building then your community, that's a problem. No church needs a coffee shop, stage, lights, sound systems, ect. WE NEED THE WORD OF GOD BEING PREACHED!!! I can really appreciate the lyrics of this song, because this is what's needed by the church.

I've listened to this song many times and it continues to be one of my favorites because of how true it is. So many people think that the only way to make a difference is to travel overseas and send people to foreign lands when really people here are who need it more than them. God used the prophets in Israel and in Judah because THEY are who needed it. He used the prophets where the Israelites were. There were a few times when they preached to other people like in the story of Jonah but it was normally right where the Israelites were. We need to start right where we are.

Took part of a street ministry yesterday in my hometown. We gave out hygiene and snack kits to many people in various locations. We spent time with, provided resource info plus prayed with the people we met. A woman and her two children were provided a hotel room for several days plus is being assisted for short/long term housing. After checking up on this particular woman today, this song played on the car radio right after I had just thanked God for being so good! Coincidence? Not at all. It was a message that my heart heard loud and clear! Be HIS hands and feet. Start right now!
