Thank you for sharing your knowledge, the video and audio is very good as is your tutorial I am getting back into surfcasting after ten years You have helped me to get into the swing of it Regards from New Zealand Love to Ireland one of my favourite places Especially the S/West
Hi Lee, glad you like it. I have some more advanced casting videos if you need, on my playlist. I hope to visit your fine land in the future, thanks Brother. See you on the beach 👍😁👌
Another great video Billy.. thank you for posting🍺 👍 ..I used to fish the giant lake ontario in Canada for massive carp and trout/salmon with a 11 foot beach rod and spinning reel ..I now live across the pond from you on an island and will be sea fishing 🎣 with a multiplier reel 😀
Excellent video Billy. Thanks for a very clear explanation. I already use a multiplier but find that I lack the confidence to attempt a pendulum cast, but after watching this video I'm going to start with the basics you have demonstrated in this video. Hopefully after a few goes I'll get the knack of it. Thanks again.
@nicoleatwell7839 Hi. it's a fishing reel with the line spool that spins horizontally, compared to a fixed spool. They are great for casting a long way 👍
@Billyfishing_watch ...ok...in the states we have baitcaster, and spinning reels....that's the reason it was weird to me, what reel are you using currently.
Great video, subbed for discovering what I've been doing for 35 years is an aerial easy cast, it's extremely rare I have the space for anything fancy so it stayed at that and my brain can't cope with anything else at this point 🤣🎣👍
Ok , found your website, the position of the reel set has organs in South Africa for big game shore fishing, but in Europe, we have very stiff buts on some of the rods, J curve the blanks are called, and it's hard to cast them with the reel in the standard position as the action is seeded up, so the reel seat Is adjusted to the caster by sliding the seat to were they like it, hope this answers your question 😁👍
Hi Billy, fantastic video and very well explained! I'm in the market for some new rods purposefully to use both fixed spool and multiplier on so 14 ft would be perfect. What sonik rods do you use the X5s?
Hi Emanuele, the rod in the video is the first rod that sonic made is the SK4 . But they don't make them anymore. But like j curve rods, thanks Brother 👍😁
Thank you for this video.. been struggling with blow ups on my Penn mag4 reels for the past few weeks. Frustrating when I’m new to multiplier fishing. I mainly fish at night, so finding it difficult to make progress with casting. I’m going to set my Magnets full on until I’ve corrected my issue with casting ( been using 3 clicks off). 👍🏻
Catching up on a few of your back catalogue Billy! I started out with an old Milbro 12ft fibreglass rod that my old man got me back in the 70's. It got tatty so in the 90's went tackle shop hopping for a cheap replacement. Still got both! Man in the tackle shop said "The rod is around £30, but you can have it with a multiplier reel for £40". Summat like that. Rod was great but I couldn't get on with that reel no way, didn't help (I now know) that it had level wind. So I gave up with multipliers. Same with Braid - endless wind knots, so gave up with that! Oh, and I'm Left handed too! I'll stick with me Penn Surfblaster II & 15ft Vertix conti rod! 😁😁 Stay safe & well. 👍👍
How is it going Brother, the only thing that matters is getting out there and fishing in my mind, still got my first rod and reel , no idea what the rod is , it was so long ago but the reel was a Abu 6500, with level wind, but took that off ,well you know why 😂🤣 stay safe, Trampster 👍😁
Very well explained. Thanks for taking the time to explain the differences between fixed and multipliers too. I'm going to take your advice to the beach. By the way, what weight is the toy squid?
Yes it is, Wesley. And great for pulling big fish, the reel position was adopted from South Africa as well. Mostly in Europe, it's just because of casting. But I have landed some big fish, 50 kg sting rays with ease because of the reel position. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Just getting back into my fishing and to start using a multiplier, your video on casting is great, can't wait to get on the beach and start practicing 👍
@@Billyfishing_watch After 70+ years of surfcasting with a reel in the up position, it was a bit daunting to learn the down position reel but after a dozen or so tries I gotta say that without a doubt it's the best for reeling in line AND fighting a fishy. Methinks I'm getting a bit more distance on the heave, too, specially since all my casting is with the aerialized Hatteras. Got me the same rod belt as yers and revolver line retrieval has never been easier or better. Thank you Sir Billy!
All of what you are saying, are the benefits of fishing with the reel in the low position. The whole left right hand chang, is what puts most people off. But there is no left right hand, in truth. And just like you say, a dozen or so casts. And you're on your way. 👌
I’m just starting to beach fish and casting is causing me a little bit of bother. Thanks for this video. Please make a video of how to make a Wiffle squid! That would be so much fun and useful. Love your work. Keep em coming !
Hi ,and thanks you so much . Yes, I will do a vid on how to make a Wiffle squid, because old Wifflei has passed on now , after the last casting vid I dragged him 13 km behind the car all the way home. He is no longer with us 🤣😂 fish on CW fish on 👍👌😁
@@Billyfishing_watch ha ha that’s so funny. Next April 1 st you should do a video on catching that elusive of target species the wiffle squid 🦑 CW from Wales over and out.
@@Billyfishing_watch yes Billy, a new company has taken over, pretty much ready to resume production. Only problem with the Alvey is they tend to twist and need 2 swivels to counter the twist, Cheers Pat. BTW do you use Latex Bait ties?
It’s a bit like a golf swing, weight on the back foot, forward heel off ground. First replant forward foot and turn legs, transfer weight to forward foot. Creates torque in the midsection for the pull/push. As in golf, taking a deep breath before the cast and releasing it on the cast helps for me.
Great vlog this one , there's nothing more enjoyable than using a multiplier reel .. well with ya clothes on that is lol... Great one Billy , must get back to beautiful Ireland soon see the family and accidentally bring my fishing gear with me , how the helll did that get in there .... stay safe billy 👍
Hi Julian, and thank you. Yes casting a multiplier fully dressed is definitely one of life's greatest pleasures. All those nudists have got it all wrong 🤪👍 Fish on👍👌
Billy superb instructive vid here ... now I want to get back into beachcasting again can you give me advice on Rods and reels, I see great plays made on 3 piece continental rods. and there are many offers including combo offers now I do not want to pay silly pennies , but should I go 2 or 3 piece rod , f/x/sp or multiplier reels ???? my fishing will be beach fishing / river estuary ... I am totally flexible on equipment and advice Billy ? thx for your time
Hi Albert. If you are not fishing on the extreme side of things. I would go for a continental 3 piece with a fix spool and 10 to 15lb 8 strand bread. But if you are fishing for something bigger 10lb plus, big eels, rays huss that sort of thing. I would go for a two-piece j curve rod fish extra distance 4-8 Oz beachcaster for a multiplier. I fish 40-50lb 4 strand braid. I have a video on the line setup just follow this link. Thanks brother fishing on 👍
Hi Scotty, if you contact me on massenger I will send you a link, and the reel seat is one that came with the rod , but it had no trigger. So I had some ABU gridlock reel seats, and just pulled the trigger off one of them and pushed it over the end of the sonik's reel seat, thanks brother 😁👍
Hello Gonzalo, and thank you Brother 👍😁. You are all the way over the other side of the world, wow !! What do you fish for in Uruguay,I have one more casting vid, just follow the link 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch thanks to you brother! Here we fish corvinas, burriquetas, tamberas, pejerrey, berotola I don't know the names in English jaaj Iam on the surf right now practicing your tips jaja
I will get Google to help with the fish names, or my friend from Argentina. I love traveling and chatting with people from around the world, thanks Gonzalo 😁👍👌
Hello billy, I don't understand why you guys use 12ft rods...here in south America the standard is 4.20 meters(14feet), it is not supposed the more rod length the more you cast can potentially cast? Thanks for Reading and sorry about mi English jajaja
Hi Gonzalo, you have very good English, as for the rods, the one in the vid , is 14 feet, and that is one of my smaller ones, must people use continental rods 15 feet or more, just the older guys use the 12 feet rods👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch ok thanks Billy, i see lot of videos with 12ft rods and i don't know if we are wrong here on using longer rods. Thanks for Reading and answer. Iam wating the otg how to cast jajaja have a nice day
