If you've been to Esperance you will be familiar with the many beaches along the coast to west and east of Esperance town. Most of the require a drive of 10 - 40 mins. Don't want to drive? well there is one beach just a short walk from the town centre; Castletown Beach. It extends 3.5 km to the east of the Tanker Jetty to Bandy Creek. It's a resonably safe beach which is also a dog beach between the hours of 5am to 8am and 4pm to 8pm. Dogs must be on a leash at all other times.
It's a pleasant beach to visit with some fish and chips and watch the sun go down.
Now, here's a fun fact you may not know about Castletown Beach. Each year 2500 truck loads of beach sand are dumped on the beach in an effort to combat sand/beach erosion. In additon to this Esperance Shire recently conducted trials pumping sand from Bandy Creek to help combat erosion.
So you may want to have a look at Castletown Beach in Esperance before its washed away.
