Man it took me at least 5 hours to 200% the castle and not without some stumbles and here you are making it look like child's play, mad props! Hope you do the other 2 games on the gba as well!
Wow comment is a year old and I was JUST explaining to my wife how this amazed me as a kid and how it stuck with me so vividly I even use the music for this level as a ringtone
My gosh, it took a solid 1:51:00 of steady crushing the game just to get to the Wind Book!! The best book! And you have to go through Sooooo much of the game! Ugh, this game is excellent!!! Nothing beats that Wind/Cross shield!! ❤️👍🏻👍🏻💤🎉🍺
For some reason, I always come back to this game a bit more than the other Metroidvania style titles. I mean, I love Circle of The Moon and Portrait of Ruin but this one has a little bit of subtle charm to it that makes me want to play it again and again.
I don't know about this and CotM, they don't flow as well as Symphony, Aria, Dawn or Portrait in level design. CotM got the better music and HoD got the better art design, but finally Konami got their shit together and created Aria of Sorrow, Dawn and finally Portrait of Ruin, a great set of Metroidvanias before slipping downward somewhat with Order of Ecclesia.

Thanks for the run. Just got into this one and seeing a lot of hate for it graphically and in terms of sound quality but I’m digging it. Been lost 3 times now and realized I need a guide and this is perfect.
It kinda deserves to be a little underrated. The jumping controls are wonky, abilities are pretty limited, and the music is really shrill at times. I'd say Circle Of The Moon is more unfairly underrated than this one (though Circle definitely has problems of its own).
A lot of people tend to not like this title because of it's style of music (which is very 8-bit like) and sort of overlook the idea that it's an overall pleasurable experience with great visuals and a lot of attention to detail.
@@ASteelWheel Some of the best Castlevania songs were birthed in the 8 bit era - Bloody Tears, Vampire Killer, Tower Of Dolls - I love it all. But something was weird about Harmony's music. It gave me headaches at times, in fact. The Gameboy Advance was capable of way better. Just look at what the Mega Man Zero series put out.
@@ASteelWheel I love 8-bit music but HoD have something that give me headaches and in my opinion the music is not memorable, also I find the map design weird, I tryied to finish this game many times but I can't, In the other hand CoM and AoS are more enjoyable for me.
Agreed. I have much more fun playing this game than Circle of the Moon, especially on repeated playthroughs. The DSS system in CotM was very badly implemented, and without a guide you will never know which enemy drops which card. The elemental books in this game are such a big improvement.
Maxim* - The mad lad who brought about another castlevania game because he wanted to one-up his friend in something. Honestly speaking, the GBA castlevania games were my favourite in the series. Mostly Aria of Sorrow, but this, that, and Circle of the Moon made for a lot of dead batteries in my childhood. *Gotta get my characters right. Durr.
Wow, I like your editing that looks like the game has navigating system (Which the first objective just skip the Bat and go straight to Living Armor, it's hilarious that the game let you skip some certain bosses btw XD)
That's true. It's quite funny and ironic to think that the castle's level design allows that for some bosses given the idea that most of the enemies here are even easier to deal with than those in SoTN.
Everything about this game just puts it on par with with Simons Quest/Lords of Shadow for me as part of my favorite games of the series, and Ive been with Castlevania literally since VHSs were still the main medium. Since the very, very beginning. Crazy.
I played this game for ten hours trying to figure out where to go and only got to half the progress, I think I give up, time to move on to rondo. Thank you letting me see the rest of the game.
Anyone else like this more than Aria of Sorrow? Going from a whip to a dagger is just ridiculous…. Maybe it’s cause Harmony was my first 2D Castlevania but that’s just what I think. I truthfully despise the map in HoD though…
Aria of Sorrow came after this game, so it's the other way around; but yea there's a bunch of reused sounds. A lot of sprites and sounds get reused between the Iga-vanias.
