While this is definitely a well-done effort in many ways, I feel like it totally misses the point of the empty castle at the end of Castlevania 2. Dracula was not present, only his curse was. Simon enters the empty castle with the pieces of Dracula's body to burn them and end the curse, which causes a sort of exorcism to take place - Dracula's spirit appears and Simon must vanquish it in battle once and for all. The fight was a joke in real CV2, and could definitely stand an overhaul, but I don't think it should've been a rehash of the final area of CV1.
I think Castlevania II: Simon's Quest deserves to have a remake in 2D or 3D with the new technologies. This remake should be based on the rebitten version.
@@Koumei I feel whoever changed the Dracula boss battle is missing the point in the original CV2; Dracula can resurrect without the specific "Full Moon over the House of Aquarius" instruction, but in doing so makes him less powerful than he was suppose to be. And since it was after nearly a decade that Simon defeated Dracula before, Simon killed off Dracula as quickly as he was resurrected.
Could they have Possibly made the last battle Different? Like have dracula in this weird demon form with his parts floating about, him invincible and you trying to destroy the parts. I was not a fan of the original C2 SQ but at least it wasn't a remake of the first game. I understand though. That would have meant New original sprite work and a possibility of people not liking the change.
I love Simon's Quest. Its an unusual and interesting entry with a nice exploratory overworld. But I understand why it would have aggravated people who played it back then. The local rental shop only had 1 and 3, so I never got around to playing this till I was an adult.
@@bezoticallyyours83 I don’t hate Simon’s Quest at all actually. I thought despite some issues, it’s still a fun entry in the series. I remember getting the game Christmas of 89 and playing it lots. Castlevania 3 is my favorite in the series with SOTN a close second.
lol died three times to this boss only, but since i was an good player in castlevania, i would pass this one... also playing Hollow knight, and now i guess why i'm good in Castle.
