CASTLEVANIA SEASON 2 DROPS ON NETFLIX IN TWO DAYS AND I AM SO EXCITED I HAD TO RE-RECORD THIS BECAUSE THE FIRST VIDEO COVER I DID WAS PURE CRAP
So the legendary Verdegrand a few years back did an astonishing arrangement/performance of this iconic theme from the only other game that shares the #1 spot with Final Fantasy VI in my heart of Best Video Game Ever Made, Symphony of the Night. I transcribed it and recorded it and told him about it, then went back and relistened to it a few months ago and was so horrified/embarrassed at my hastily recorded crappy rendition I deleted it immediately and set to work recording a better one, and here it is. I tried to hew as close as I could to Verdegrand's slower tempo, which is a necessity for this arrangement because the texture is quite thick with all of the complex counterpoint and a lot of those lines would get lost and muddied at a faster clip. To be honest, I also like his slower tempo, it really works for this particular arrangement because it gives it a prettier, more melodic quality and brings to the fore the baroque underpinnings of the majority of the SOTN OST (and really almost all of Castlevania soundtracks in general). I want so badly to get back to arranging SOTN for piano because I love michiru yamane and she just knocked that OST out of the park and i love everything castlevania. But after Tactics, which will probably never end because you guys keep requesting all my favorite tracks from that OST! GAH!!! lol
