Hello Ryan, thanks for all your videos they are very helpful to an English man looking to relocate permanently to Paraguay. I have subscribed to you. Could you tell me how Paraguay may be for disabled people in a wheelchair. I am thinking to relocate my elderly, 80+ disabled mother as well but cannot find info regarding disabilities and Paraguay. Also how is the health system or are you private health care. How different is the Spanish spoken to that in Spain? Muchas gracias amigo.

Hello my friend, thanks for watching! For the wheelchair question, actually at the airport I had to be wheelchaired from the plane, through customs then out to the car I was getting picked up in because I had broke my foot before coming down here. So at the airport they are very much very helpful, just notify flight attendants. As far as where to live, I would very much encourage you to have your mother be located in the new downtown area (Las Lomas/Villa Morra, etc.) as those are the areas with the nicest sidewalks. Normally I urge expats to spread out and not all stay in the new downtown area, but in your mother's case I would definitely say to reside downtown for walking purposes. Other neighborhoods and cities don't have the best sidewalks. For outdoor activities there are plazas and ciclovías where folks can bring wheelchair-bound folks out to get out of the house. Now as far as society as a whole, I honestly don't know all of the laws around building codes for folks w disabilities. I'd have to look further into that. But I will say that services in general are very affordable in Paraguay, and you could probably afford daily in-home-care visits, and arrange for special and exclusive transportation for much less than where you are currently living. I don't have exact prices, but Paraguayans are very service-oriented people and I have no doubt she would be well cared for. With a cédula, ID card, you have access to public hospitals, but I highly encourage you to pick up a private plan, they can go as low as like $30-$50 USD/month... now just be sure to ask about any specialty care, etc. You can choose specific hospitals/clinics and ask for their pricing options. I'd start online, but there may even be pricing found on Facebook & Instagram. Lastly regarding the language, Paraguayan Spanish is very different, but if you have a good base, you should be fine. Just make a daily effort to keep learning as much as you can. Best of luck to you and your mother if you decide to come here!
