Walkaround on a 385C LME excavator. Sorry it took so long to get up. For a more detailed explaination of what to look for check out my 345C walkaround video.
I've only done the bucket linkage by hand, and only once. Each pin takes a whole tube! If you wanted to do the whole machine you would be looking at 8-10 tubes of grease and a very rubbery set of arms afterwards. In the compartment on the opposite side of the boom from the cab there is a power greaser and hose reel =D I do the bucket linkage after each break (3 times a day) and they do a full greasing when they fuel in the morning.
i love the 3rd pedal, its beautiful when your bringing down sewer pipes or manholes great video man keep them coming,,one of these days show me the setup for your camera,,thanks
Putting the fuse box where you can actually get at it! Who would have thought it? Good deal with the third pedal. Kind of like the old Cats, but better. Thanks for the tour.
I spent a year in the "penalty box" for this company before I got my 385. The penalty box was unit 676 a cat 375 with no AC and in the winter the heater worked, but was on full blast no adjustment. And man was that thing slow!
@sexed82 Yes it's just in front of your left joystick. When you pull it back to engage the controls a little yellow arm pops up blocking the door way. This is to help prevent you from leaving the seat without disengaging the controls again (so you don't hit them by accident climbing in and out). If you look at my "operating a 385 joystick view" video you can see the yellow arm sticking up. It's also visible in "how the controls of an excavator work".
Nice video... I might have missed it, but does the 385 have one, two... any dipsticks for the swing motors? I know on a 345 they have two dipsticks right behind the boom for the swing drives.
No it's not a big deal, but it will help on wear etc if they are not too tight. In mud it packs in and pulls on the tracks as you sink so a tad loose works out to be "normal" adjustment.
@dhtvhe92 Loose in wet conditions, as the tracks pack up with dirt it will pull them tighter (if the track was already tight then it would start to cause extra wear on the chains and rollers).
@365CL This one is the Cat 7.75yd3 bucket. There is a picture of my standing next to it on our facebook page, just go to our main channel and click the banner up top to find the link. Oh and for a size reference I'm 6'6" in my boots.
@redheadedduckhunter They are all pretty awesome but I prefer the ME setup. The machine is pretty beat now so maybe not THAT one in particular, just love the power of a short stick and boom.
@GlobalMiningMachines Well a good operator shouldn't be losing any paint! But you're right too many people don't take care of their machine these days. Worst part is those marks happened within the first few weeks of us getting this machine brand new! I wasn't too pleased in the least. Guy bent the catwalks up too =/
@CAT330DLE I was the only operator of this machine for approximately a year and a half. I built subdivisions, ponds, roads, golf courses etc with it. Check out my channel, there are all sorts of 385 videos on there.
Like ripping up pavement etc? If you click my name it will take you to my "channel" page and you can watch "CAT 385C LME removing pavement" and "CAT 385C LME removing old road core" which I think is what you are looking for.
