Cat (Bread box) Delete on Kawasaki Z900 part 1 

I’m enjoying the sound!!! I was not expecting to be that good with leovince slipon. Can’t wait for my Austin racing cat back to arrive!!

Andy, do you have to cut the cat off?

@@jacmeg1845 actually I cut right after the cat, O2 sensor still on the same place. Only thing you will be getting rid off is the big box , resonator I think is called.

@@SoloMCRider i just went out and changed the original to a slip-on from pro-race. got the GP-S1 Slash model. damn does it look good and it does change the sound remarkeble from original. I want to thank you for the great videos on changing to leo vince. And helping me get the curage to actully change it myself :D now i need some type of shield to hide the bread box. but dont know if there is any cous the slip-on is not that big, anyways keep up the good work !

You are right, cat is not the bread box , catalyst still inside the exhaust, when I have my Austin Racing exhaust if it’s not loud enough I will make few holes through the catalyst for more air flow! But removing the bread box sounds so much better!!

AR officially suggests to keep the high flow cat inside the headers as it is. No need to touch it and do less pollution :).

Yes, you have to cut the oem headers lol! Rest are advantages, save tons of cash, has oem look etc!

I have ECU flashed for full system so with the cat delete bike is alive!! Huge change on power band and very smooth power delivery!

Thank you! Yes of course, gas mileage will not be the same anymore, anytime we mess with air fuel ratio fuel economy will suffer. And if you get ECU flash it will be worst:)

@@SoloMCRider have you noticed since this mod how much change is your fuel? i normally get range between 350km(220mi). i presently have after market Yosh Alpha T. sound is a little deeper, but would have liked it to be a little more louder. as many here, don't want the bike to sound too annoyingly loud!

@@hamidazeez6198 wow 220 miles of range lol I’m no where close to that even before the tune , most I had about 145-150 miles per tank and now maybe 130-140 or less. But I rev the heck out of the bike , always on lower gears to hear the bike ;)

No not really, you should check you clutch adjustment on your clutch levers. I have a video how to adjust clutch, check that out . Thank you

If you are just removing bread box it won’t be too loud but if you are drilling the cat out too it’s going to straight pipe like full exhaust headers, which I did with a akrapovic carbon slipon and it wasn’t extremely loud! It was perfect 👍 I’m not sure what slipon you are going to use? If you are installing one with db killer then you have option to put the db killer back in if it’s too loud for your taste !

@@SoloMCRider I'm using the Leovince lv-10 Slip on, just like in your video. Not sure whether to tell the installer to drill through the cat or not. I just don't want a situation where I can't hear my audio well from my speakers in my helmet

@@moyanak LV10 was loud without bread box and cat, if you don’t drill the cat you should be fine, again noise Tolerance is subjective lol and hearing the sound on the video and real life it’s a tough call lol That is why I experimented with all of that and ended with de cat with akrapovic carbon which sounded best for me!!

@@SoloMCRider so I’m a little confused is the breadbox not the cat? I just bought a Z900 with a leo and no breadbox and I was told it didn’t have a cat, granted it’s not very loud at all; no flames or big pops

Just take off the cat back (bread box) and leave ECU alone! Bike will sound awesome 🤩

Yes! It will fit any slipon that’s goes to oem headers, make sure to get the correct link pipe from eBay or elsewhere for your bike year.

No the headers not stainless steel.

Yes I did have leovince full headers but it was too loud for me so I sold the headers and decided to do a cat back ! Sounds just right!

Aftermarket exhaust modifications not legal but some states don’t really care. We only ride bike1-2 times a week lol 😂

@@SoloMCRider You might wanna double check that, I just send my ecu out to 2wdw and they said if I keep my cat on the bike the tune in slightly different for the health of the cat

I got the cat back link pipe from eBay based of off my Z900 make year, to be honest I didn’t measure the diameter. The mid pipe was plug and play! Sorry I couldn’t answer your question.

It was very easy for me , came out without any fight . I have seen other ppl having issues and stripping the bolt . Good luck 👍

I had my bike flashed before I did the cat delete so I didn’t get a check engine light so can’t tell for sure if it’s going to give a check engine light or not.

I thought about it but the system I kind of like they are too expensive but now with the cat back leovince LV 10 sounds amazing!! I will probably just keep it as it is!

If you check my old videos , when I installed the Leovince slipon I had stock exhaust sound

I blocked the pair AIS valve to prevent backfire! And pops and crackles

@@julz948 lol AIS (Air Injection System) The AIS injects air into the exhaust chambers as a means of burning excess fuel when the bike is decelerating.

@@SoloMCRider Wheww.. Very clever. How I wish I could watch your video doing this blocking 2 AIS valves. How does it differ from the other guys' remapping thing to eliminate backfires?

@@ken78shin no, I don't understand why people do this. It does nothing for performance, but if you start removing some of the back pressure the entire system is designed to create you will start losing horsepower. You will need to get a tune if you remove the CAT.

​@@jasonhalliburton2448did someone tell you this regarding " back pressure" if they did ,did you do your own research? I suggest and it's only a suggestion that you might want to look up 4 stroke engines and back pressure, just a suggestion

@@marcjohnson7734 You should research how removing the entired exhaust system and placing a straight pipe on the Z900 effects performance and back pressure. You will run more lean, gasses will get trapped in the exhaust and cause issues, everything in the Z900 was designed for a reason. I know the difference between a 4 stroke and 2 stroke and rebuilt them both, I understand how much more important back pressure is to a 2 stroke along with the shape of the exhaust. You can replace both of the mufflers without any negative side effects on this bike but if you do that along with cutting the cat out you will have to get a whole new tune or you will lose a little performance until you do.

It’s normal when a new pipe is installed.. has to burn off any left over oils and residues. Breadbox also helps filter all that crap out.. this only had the cat so expect some exhaust fumes.
