Thank you for caring about Luna. I will explain more about the circumstances regarding her health and litters in this comment. Luna had another litter eight months ago. She got six kittens in total, but two were stillborn. It is always very sad with stillborn kittens, but it is more common than one may think and about 8 % of kittens are stillborn. It was unfortunate what happened with those two kittens, but it was not anything to be concerned about when it comes to Luna's health and ability to have kittens. Everything went smoothly after that. She took very good care of her kittens and all of them have grown up to healthy and strong cats. Luna herself quickly returned to her normal weight and has been happy and healthy ever since. Since she was in good health, I decided to let her have another litter 8 months after the first one. That much time between litters should not be problem as long as the mother cat is strong and healthy, which Luna was. She was also having frequent heats since October. Letting her go into heat so often can be a problem and it is also not completely risk free to give her pills to prevent them. With this in mind, I thought that 8 months would be a good time to wait between her litters. The birthing process this time was very long, but you should know that she was feeling fine and relaxed during the long break. She just took a long pause. She was checked by the vets and they said that she and the kittens looked healthy. They said that even if it is a bit uncommon with such a long break, it is still considered normal and it just happens sometimes. Usually there is nothing to worry about and both mother and kittens can make it through without problems. She only started having contractions again right before the next kitten was born and she delivered the rest of them without problems. To summarise, Luna has been through two deliveries that both were a bit unlucky, but can still be considered to be normal. She has delivered all kittens herself without any interventions like a Caesarean section for example. I always try to do what's best for my cats and you can rest assured that I will keep a close eye on Luna's and the kittens' health to make sure that they are fine. I have not decided if Luna will have more litters in the future. If she will have more, she will get a longer break until the next one. Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking about my cats 🙂
Thank you for this information. I think you can see in every video how much your cats mean to you and how well you take care of them. Of course it's always sad when animals are stillborn, but that's also part of nature. You will find the best way for Luna and I am sure that you only want the best for her and you will make the right decisions.
Thank you for giving such a detailed account. I know very little about cats, so I can not comment on the rights or wrongs as others have rather harshly done. I so enjoy watching your videos - the cats are obviously much loved and respected. They are the stars, not just the exploitive supporting act to a human, as so many other animal videos are. A few minutes in their company is time well spent.
Mine had cesarean. And i had to handfeed them. A big adventure but my 4 sons were healthy and big. They stayed with me until they died... she had only 1 liter and died of old age. I would have had another liter. But after that experience i had enough. 😊
My cay gave birth to 2 kittens and I can tell she has more inside. It's been 6 hours or more and she has birthed the others, how long should I wait til I'm concerned for the others?
@@Maine_Coon_Kittens Glad to hear that. Previously you were defending your decision to breed her again after 5 or 6 months. (If Freya is 7 months old, then it was only 5 months which is ridiculously short time -- especially for a home breeder as home breeder are generally more responsible than kitten mills.) It's not unusual for cats to have more problems with later litters within a year and for the second litter in a year to have a higher mortality rate. Which is why responsible breeders don't do more than one litter a year.
Congratulations luna you you did it your a mom now you did fabulous giving birth to your baby kittens thar was a really long time un till you gave birth to your kittens I can't put into words how sorry I am for the loss of your 2 kittens luna I know God is watching over you sending love ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ and in time everyday you will carryon take a really really long break you deserve it
Yes, I understand. But the good thing is that she was very calm and was not in any stress or pain during the long break. I think it was worse for the first little kitten who had to be alone for 27 hours.
This, including the visit at the vet, is enormously stressing for Luna. I hope, she will have a good recovery and a long pause before being pregnant again. Please respect her.
This video gives me so much relief, my cat is currently kittening and so far we have one that lived and one that has passed I can feel at least one more in her belly but she hasn’t had any action in 5 hours no signs of distress
I look forward to watching future videos of your beautiful kitty cat family.. how are Buster and Freya doing throughout the excitement of the new additions to their family?
It may be time to cease breeding her period. 27 hours is a seriously long time for a cat to be in labor. She was obviously having difficulty with the birth. I don't know how old she is or how many litters she has birthed, but this may be a sign her breeding days are over.
I unfortunately saw this video after the one about Stella, I’m REALLY sorry for you and Luna. I apologize for the mean and spiteful (to me) comment about how you’re perceived as a “cat grandma”. I am now REALLY curious as to who the noisy one is. Male or female I would want that one. Congratulations on another difficult delivery.
Yes, it was very sad, but we just have to accept it. I don't know which kitten was so loud. One of the first two 🙂 I'm not sure which grandma comment you're talking about. But I get much worse comments than that, so it's nothing.
2 stillborn kittens in the first litter, 1 now. Luna is too young for having kittens, she`s not fully grown. Maine Coon cats are fully grown with around 4 years and should not have kittens before. Luna is small for her age, i think she`s 2 1/2 years old now. You abused her as a kitten mill. Unsubscribing from both your channels now.
@@mohoyyt There are hormon pills available, they prevent a cat from falling in heat by stopping the flow of sexual hormones. But this pill should be given not longer than 6 months, elsewhere it can cause uterus cancer. The pill is given 1x per week. Giving the pill should always be discussed with your vet who knows your cat.
Twice. It seems to me cats are not the issue here, they are just an excuse for you to be mean and disrespectful. You lose all credibility because of that.
@@virvejalonen6724twice too many. For a cat, 2 years old is barely even an adult, especially Maine coon. But they are huge moneymakers so maybe it’s harder to see clearly when the channel profits off them… I think the OP is genuinely concerned about the wellbeing of these cats, as am I. Spaying is the much kinder path.

Yes, it was sad with that kitten. But it had been waiting for so long to come out that I kind of expected it to happen 😕 It was a tough time, but I'm surprised by how strong Luna is now so soon afterwards. She has really handled it well!
@@Maine_Coon_Kittens very happy and relieved for you all! Looking forward to seeing the next videos as they grow up. Watching your videos really cheers me up, thank you! 😻😍😻😍
