HEY YOU READ HERE ABOUT STUFF: Ok so a few things. For the first time, I'm going to attempt to respond to a bunch of the comments on this youtube video. So if you leave a comment on the vid I'll try to get back to you (not just the comments that are replies to this comment). Another thing, this video was originally 45 minutes. However, as I got closer to finishing it I realized that it felt like 2 seperate videos I was forcing together so instead I decided to cut out a bunch of stuff (that I still very muched liked) and possibly use it again for another video. AND THE LAST THING, I now have a patreon ( www.patreon.com/syrmor ) yes yes I know you probably get 1000 youtubers a day asking you to check out their patreon. But for 2019 I really want to make a push to transition into a full time youtuber. I had a cat named Jay and everytime I got sad, he always seemed to know. He was born on my bed when I was 10 and we've been buddies ever since. I let him get so fat and chumby so everyone loved his fluff. He used to sleep at my feet and sniff his food with a lot of force. Last year he got into some fertilizer, and we had to put him down. I think I have over 300 pictures of him on my old phone. I can't upload them to a computer, so every now and then I charge the old phone just to look at him. My mom once said he was my only friend. She was right and wrong. He was my best friend.

Growing up is scary, your first 10 years you'd live carefree then once you become a teen everything changes. I'm 16 and am a bit scared to grow up but I need to come to terms that no one stays young forever. Everyone gets older.

I wish, I took more photo's of my youth. Cataloged more. I dont remember much of my early life because of that I think.

This reminds so much about my hometown and the old friends I lost contact with after I moved. It's so weird to just stop and think about all the things we went through in life and eventually left behind and forgot about. Somehow they came back to the surface and just made me feel so grateful for all the people who were my friends back then. I wonder how they are now, where are they living or if they remember me at all. Thanks for the memories Syrmor.

I just, i'm in awe. I love that you've found all these old memories and have immortalized it online here. I guess I'm like you, my biggest fear is forgetting the person I was yesterday, or leaving this world without leaving anything to remember me by. It scares me so much because I'm not the most public on social media, like I don't always post photos of me and my girlfriend, or myself for that matter, and as I live my life day to day my sentiment is that the moments that pass are just ours to enjoy. I work in video and film and so I edit so much that it feels like a chore to come back home and do more of it. But as a result, the day that we both pass, all these memories that I've made of all these moments will be lost to the world, and no one will ever know such a thing existed anymore. I am truly truly very proud of you finding all of this and sharing it to the world, I hope your memories will be immortalized forever as a result and I hope I never forget seeing this video. I first started going to VRchat after seeing your videos, I hope to meet you in there one day. I might not open up and talk about much, but it'll be nice to stick around and listen to stories that you'd like to tell, or others might want to tell.

my dad's a director and he's really into film and photography. lately, he's been trying to get me to make a film all by myself, but... honestly, i'd been so depressed and demotivated. even my main interest, drawing, hasn't been helping. seeing your videos though- especially this one, encouraged and inspired me to start documenting my high school life starting next year (even more so with the fact that a lot of my friends, who are seniors, are leaving in March). thanks for uploading your content. may you continue to inspire more people, such as myself. have a great one, dude.

I found your videos from someone on facebook sharing the little kid is too pure for VRchat video and I've been hooked ever since, and really impressed at the continually increasing quality of your videos and narratives (not to say the sillier, more lighthearted videos aren't welcome too, but this serious stuff has been really amazing). I also just wanted to say thank you SO much for subtitling everything, I have such bad hearing comprehension so it's really sincerely appreciated.

Its kinda funny. Growing up i loved my home town and idolized the nearby city. Now ive grown and seen why people move away. Or end up being here. Two of my friends are moving away well one joined the army another is going to another state. My other friends are either stuck here or going to college. I want to leave but i dont have the money to do so and thats what happens to everyone i know who wants to leave. I might move to the city since my job is there but idk. It just seems you reach a certain age and everyone wants to move on but cant for a long list of reasons. My mom never did due to what i can guess is fear of being a lone. She always says she wants to be near my family but she never sees them due to work so i mean why not just take the leap of faith. For my grandfather i can only guess this is all he ever knew my grandmother came up from Georgia so i guess he just wanted to settle down. But now i find it to be my turn to choose to stay or leave and i feel like the window is closing faster than i can get it together. Like i want to be buried here but i want to move far from here to experience life in a different way. Leaving behind friends aint a problem since thats what life is about. We still play on psn but when it comes down to it i dont want to be someone who is stuck in their home town peering out into the world through only a screen.

This video is great, it truly made me nostalgic, remembering my own past days of hometown and my childhood friends who I hung out with all the time riding our bikes, going to the beach, doing stupid things etc. Such a lovely trip down memory lane

I really needed to watch this since I’m about to start a whole new chapter of my life. If I’m going to be honest, I was jealous watching this video. Yeah I have friends, but recently I’ve been slowly drifting away from them. I wish them the best and I know I’ll miss this one day, but as you said, the faults of the people I interact with all day, the atmosphere, and my town have really started to show. Anyone reading this fixing to start high school: the friendships you forged for years in middle school and elementary will most likely not stand the test of time. If you need to focus on yourself and don’t let what they say affect your motivations and end goals.

Hi Syrmor, When I was a kid, my family moved around a lot. Long story short, I romanticized everything and felt nostalgic more than most. I would ponder the significance of events in my life and I would document everything too. While I don't have a single shitty place to call home, I related so much to this video. It especially hit home as today is my 24th birthday and I'm back with my parents for the holidays in their house in a city I did not grow up in. Thanks for making this video, it definitely is good to see another person process in a similar way.

The stories about animals always had me tearing up. Poor angel out in the cold! And that dogs lil head under the tire Q~Q poor oreo.. they all sounded like wonderful animals. I remember having this dog named feefee and he was always the same, an old little dog with an underbite and a big appetite! Losing him was hard. I couldn't imagine the pain of loosing such a familiar and loving pet as oreo though.. Rest in peace oreo

I grew in a tiny town and went to a small school whose average graduation class was 40 or less. I barely had any friends until late high school. None of us had a vehicle so we couldn't go around town doing crazy things since there wasn't anything around at all. The closest city was half an hour away and even then there isn't much there. I never took pictures or videos since there was nothing really memorable happening. Now at 19 and working my ass off every day I feel kind of depressed that we never really did anything except play games and nowadays when I try to hangout with any of them i cant since they have their own lives going on. So in actuality i dont have any friends except the guys I play online with damn near everyday

Okay, I'm posting this comment on Syrmor's video a year later because I just want to say, this video Is amazing. It really shows me how different some things can be and how different they turn out to be. I've recently been dealing with really bad depression and anxiety because I was born with both of these mental illnesses along with a heart disease. However, I'm living life as well as I can. My heart's been hurting physically, but people tend to hurt me emotionally as well. I've been thinking and I want to say some things that can show you what life has told me to value. Which means that if you're reading this, pay attention. I just want to say that, at many years old, live life as full as you can. Don't forget academics. Don't forget that even as people tend to be distant, remember their perspectives. Of course, you can live life with regrets. Even if you say you won't, there will be so many things that won't happen but always try to stay happy no matter what. Smile through hard times. Cry when you need to cry. Pay attention to others around you. You. Are. Amazing. Stop thinking about that thing that's been on your mind. You're you. Stay that way. And, I love you all even if I don't know you. Even if you think you're a terrible person. I love you. I care for you. And I hope you do that to other people as well. Many people think that they're worthless. Even if they seem to be the happiest person around. Pay attention to those people. Many people try to make others happy without making others happy. It hurts. They cover up a pain that makes them feel miserable. Life wears them down. Pick that person up. And most of all, stop eating peanut butter straight out of the jars, along with drinking milk straight out of the gallon/carton. >:(

My town had it's own sort-of Bicycle Bob. Everyone called him "Twitchy Richie" and he'd just walk around town and the surrounding area. I would always see him when my family would drive to a more populated neighbor town to get groceries and things. Anyway, the story was that he was in a car crash and his wife and kids were all killed and was pretty messed up mentally from that. A couple years back he was killed in a hit-and-run and I don't believe they ever found the person who did it.

I can't relate to most people who've actually lived in one place for their childhood. I moved around a lot due to family issues. Most of the few friends I had from my childhood I either lost contact with or pushed away. I didn't have nostalgia for places as Syrmor does in his video, as I couldn't remember many of the places from all of the towns I'd visited. Instead, I had a lot of gaming-related stuff growing up, so I distinctly remember what struggles I was going through at the time based upon what I played. I also had a tendency to remember feelings and smells but I couldn't remember why they made me feel nostalgic. Gaming was my anchor, much like Oreo is to Syrmor, but for me now that I've learned not to push them away, it's been my friends who've kept me grounded.

This made me go through my photo gallery just made me realize how precious every moment is.

My best friend is like Kosta. I haven't physically seen him in ten years but i can Facebook any question in the cosmos to him right now and he'll answer like we spent the whole day together.

I dont expect to get a reply seeing as how this is from 2018, but this was an extremely touching video and this style of documentary really hits me in a sad nostalgic spot. One that is sad, but happy to have experienced what I have. I love this life long videographer thing Syrmor seems to have going for himself, and seeing some old journeys with his friends who I've never known, makes me feel happy and nostalgic too somehow. Thank you for putting these videos together, they are works of art in my opinion. The real purpose of my comment though: where do you keep all that footage and media? Cataloging most of your life must take countless terabytes. How do you store it all and when do you choose to start recording, Syrmor? Videos like these make me want to take part and catalog my own life to be able to look back at it and know my life's experiences were truly worth living and not just meaningless memories.
