Yes my mom's cat learnt by himself to open the door. It's a very old door so the mechanism is different, it's a round handle in the middle of the door attached to the side where the key hole is with a strip of metal. Ar first he tried putting his paw on the round handle but after that he started jumping and "grabbing" the piece of metal by hanging from it with his front paws, and his weight would open the door. Later when my mom didn't want him out she would disconnect the mechanism and the door would open by pulling to the right a bit of metal near the key hole. The cat quickly understood that to and with his paws tried pulling on the thing but it was too hard for him. Poor kitty would put his paw there and try different positions while keeping his eyes on the crack to see if it worked 😭💗 Cats can be so intelligent!
