I have watched this several times. I love to study the way you paint from the back and bring it forward. It gives it such depth. Love your work. Being a woodcarver I am used to working in a negative way from front to back . THis is amazing work.

He's so alive. I love the way you 'lift' the whiskers. I gave up trying to paint cats in watercolour and moved to pastels and acrylics purely because of this problem: I couldn't paint the whiskers or ear hairs. It's fascinating to see how you tackle this.

Wow great job, I've been practicing a pet portrait of my daughters cat, but in rainbow colors. This one looks quite a bit like hers. I didn't know how to treat his markings, now I do. I just need to decide what colors to put where. And the sketched markings helped alot. Thanks so much for sharing your talent ❤️

下絵から、着彩の前の水での紙慣らし見事です。鉛筆の線が生きてます。イエローオーカーからの調整も良いです。影入れも一番暗いところからうまいです。１時間はかかりますね。

Is there a time limit you can lift the paint for the whiskers? If i paint a painting over a few days can I still lift the paint like this?

Thanks Sharon! I usually sketch directly on watercolor paper and try not to erase too much, but of course that doesn't work always - so if I manage to mess up the paper, I just transfer the sketch on a new watercolor paper sheet with transparent paper. I have many videos where I recorded the sketching process as well. Sometimes I just start sketching and forget to start recording in time :)

Also your painting slowly, much easier to follow. You didn't apply too much water to the paper in the beginning, and I haven't seen you apply more. When you switched to the round brush were you painting wet on dry? Maybe 140lb paper dries quicker than your 400lb??
