I was very skeptical about using tea & honey on my cats eye, but after reading so many positive comments I decided to give it a go. I used a regular tea bag in 1/2cup boiling water, let it steep 10 minutes, removed the tea bag and mixed 1 teaspoon of honey in it once the water cooled a bit, then applied the drops at room temperature. I made a fresh mixture daily and gave my cat a few drops 3-4 times a day for 4 days (fourth day, my cat was really hating the drops so I wiped her eyes with a soaked piece of paper towel a few times. My cat improved after the first day, and every day after that. It’s been a week now and she’s back to herself 💕 I cannot thank you enough Dr. Jones. I’ve been checking out other of your videos and am learning so much. I will definitely recommend your channel 😊 P.S, thank you to everyone who left comments bc that gave me the push to try this 😁
This is so much better than google. It had me thinking my cat was dying! Thank you for sharing this video. my cat is better now because of your remedy.
I was a bit skeptical about this because when I called my vet I was told there’s nothing else that will work for infection besides the prescribed eye drops. I still did the honey and water to help my cat feel better meanwhile we wait for the vet to see him since they were fully booked and O M G! This works wonders, I am so glad I searched and found you! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SOO MUCH! ❤️ Almost 2 months later lol but I forgot to UPDATE: I didn’t even need to go to the vet anymore and my cat was completely cured by then thanks again 😊 ❤️
That's because the vet wants your money $$$$ I took my kitten to vet for conductive eyes it cost me over $160.00 this home remedy cost me nothing I had it all in cupboard and works faster....
Dr. Jones you are in a very rare category or maybe 1/100 doctors who are actually are willing to discuss and recommend home remedies to save their clients money instead of the typical vet are the hundreds of thousands of internet know it all who only know one even when it comes to the most minor of issues which is "you need to take your cat to the vet"! These are the same sort of people like the 31 out of 1300 who chose to give your video a thumbs down. Their either other veterinarians upset you're potentially taking money out of their pocket, or their people who put the value of animals lives above human lives and take their dog or cat to the vet if because he threw up once. I love my dog and my cat but even I don't got to the doctor at the first sign I might be coming down with the flu, so I certainly won't do it for my pets. I used the Tea and honey eye drops and my kittens eyes where cleared up in a couple days.On the other hand I an issue with my dog that I knew I couldn't do anything about and I took him to the vet immediately. I certainly would never let my animal suffer. But there's nothing wrong with seeking home remedies just like I do if I have a physical injury or illness before running to my family doctor or taking my animals to the vet at every issue.
you are absolutely right because I take my cats to the vet and it's lots of money and they told me well if you don't have the money just let the cat die what this man is doing actually he's helping people who don't have that kind of money he's helping people who have low has low income
@@catlove111 what's even worst is treatment doesn't even work! my cat has urinary tract disease, and the vet i visit gave the prescription of antibiotics for two weeks. once the medicine stop she suffer again. went back to the vet. another two weeks of same medication. after the 2nd run medicine ended she still isn't cure. i know there's a danger of having too much antibiotics. so i start to get more info on this disease, and knows organic apple cider vinegar helps. my cat now doesn't get pain as we gave her twice per day. and organic apple cider vinegar is great for her what anger me is my cat suffer because of this vet greed. i ask this vet about this remedies and get the reply i should not believe this method.
@@weightlossat50 use topical application method. wipe the vinegar (50% distill water 50% vinegar) on the fur. i put the solution in a glass, so when she is napping, i dip my fingers (two times) in and wipe on her chest and hands so that she can lick it. (you can search for Dr Becker video for more info)
Ok update: I tried the black tea in my 14yr old cats pink eye yesterday. 30 minutes later she was able to open her eye and it looked almost normal. I applied a couple more drops 4 hours later and she absolutely REFUSED to let me. But her eye looks amazing this morning. I'm switching over to using the black tea as a compress since she's more open to that over drops directly in her eye. She's definitely better in less than 24 hours. Thank you SO much for this advice, I'm truly grateful
I'm trying the honey one u mentioned he would only let me put 2 drops though. There's a glaze over his eye in the corner of it I couldn't get a good look at it though wish him luck! He had always had a problem with that eye since we found him when he was little but I usually just clean it with salt water and it fixes it but this time it's back I was out of salt so I decide to try this.
You have saved my cat! She is a persian and has always had problems with her eyes. Numerous vet trips always prescribing the same meds. I even went to a dermatologist to see if it was something she was allergic to. I hit a wall and didn't know what else to do. I found this video somehow by googling and I'm so glad I did. At the start of this treatment her eyes were pretty severe. I did this for two weeks and use the tea bag as a compress everyday. Her eyes are all clear now. To anyone who is skeptical, this really does work. Amazing, thank you so much ♥️
Goodmorning sorry to bother you but there is a feral cat in my backyard and one eye is closed shut and I can tell he or she is not feeling well the cat isn't even a year old what should I do?
@@jeromeashley9972I hope the kitty is ok. Not much you can do with a feral cat, unless it lets you. I'm grateful you at least tried, most wouldn't. I love cats.
Does anyone have advice on where I can go to help rehome cats? I saved a kitty just before lockdown and now I have 30 cats and 2 litters of kittens. The humane society isn't helping anyone with anything and I'm going broke. I get soc. sec. and every penny goes on them. I am being threatened that this guy is going to trap them, I just want loving caring homes. They are the smartest and most beautiful kitties on the planet! 😊
What worked for me: 1. Take a clean, damp washcloth (make sure water is warm) and hold it to the cats eye, make sure not to cover the mouth or nose. Hold it there for a few seconds. 2. Take a Q-tip (cotton swab) and clean away any gunk from the cats eye. 3. Apply whatever method that you chose. (I am in no way a professional, this is just what helped my kitten get well)
OMG!!!!!!Thank u so much.To u and to the doctor.I just tried ur idea and it started working .Tomorrow i will try the warm distilled honey with water.Thank u.U saved me and my little kitten.I thought smth bad was going to happen to him next and i was feeling so bad.But thanks to u we feel better now!
I recieved a kitten from a lady who didnt really take care of her, her eyes were really bad, a bunch of gunk around them and they were barely open, I used a warm washcloth to wash away the gunk and followed the BLACK TEA remedy, she looks so great already! We still have 2 more days to go but this is amazing, I HIGHLY recommend this!!
This actually works! My cat came down with an eye infection that went from just a watery eye to full blown yellow goopy infection with swelling in the span of 8 hours. In a panic I searched home remedies to just make her comfortable until getting to a vet. But Now I don’t think she even needs to see the vet after this. I mixed 1/2 cup of black tea and 1/4 tsp of honey and applied to my cats eye 2-3x a day and after 2 days she can fully open her eye, swelling and redness almost GONE! and I can tell shes feeling/looking better & getting back to her confident personality. I also work at a cat shelter where I’ve seen eye infections last almost a week with prescription drops so I wasn’t expecting this home remedy to fully heal her eye but sure enough it’s working!
Sorry for any grammar mistakes, english is not my first language but I had to comment. I came home today to find one of my cat's eyes cloudy. It was obviously conjunctivitis but when I search the symptoms she has none of them and it doesn't mention the whiteness. I was so frustrated and I felt so helpless and guilty. This video is a blessing, I'm so thankful. Keep the good work, I'll share this video with others who need it. Thank you very much ♥️
Thank you. A kitten came to our home but han an eye infection. I tried your solution and it worked. I never did find its momma or his owner. Thats ok, I love him
@@OneSun11 has to be inside the eye, a drop a few times during the day , try for 5 days unless it’s not fully healed, and make everything fresh everyday like the honey water or black tea
My 3yr cat has had issues with one eye, she went to vet- November an received cat flu vaccine, December third eye lid was visible an pinky back to vet received eyedrops + oral meds an all was well for a week. Then it returned over xmas an new year, I continued with eyedrops from vet knowing I was going to run out. Finding this veterinarian on u tube was a blessing have been giving my cat greentea eyedrops + using as a compress to clean discharge, it's now the third day great inprovement today. Many blessings from New Zealand. All pet owners this man is a saint for our fur babies❤
Hello, I’ve tried the tea method to treat my cat’s conjunctivitis and it worked :). My 4 year old cat had it for almost more than week. I went to the vet and he prescribed antibiotics ointment to treat the infected eye for a week. It got better but not fully recovered. I came across your video and tried the tea method. Within a day, his eye got so much better and he is not squinting anymore :). Still going to continue as you said for 5 days. Thank you so much for this amazing home remedy.
You’re an angel. I noticed my babygirl hadn’t eaten or played all day. I noticed she was squinting her eye. I looked and realized something was wrong. I brewed a cup of tea, and got a new dropper. It wasn’t 15 mins. after I put the drops, that I noticed her eye was opening wider. She began to run and play. She ate and drank water. I’m so grateful. That was last night. Today it appears to be draining more and the eye is cloudy, but more clear than it was yesterday. Her eye has opened all the way up. I’ll make the honey remedy in a little while. Thank you so much.
thank you sooooo much these tips really helped my 4 week old kitten with an eye infection. i didnt have black tea so i used green tea instead and that worked too. her eye was getting better after just one day and after a few days the infection was gone completely
I just got 2 kittens today. They are 7weeks old. One has an eye infection. I'm natural with evrything in my home and Im so glad I found your channel which has natural remedies for cats! I'm going to try this an update you all when I see what happens ! Thk U so much. ❣️
A week later, i had to come back to thank you so much. I used black tea and in 2 days my cats eyes were cured. I didn't drop it in the eyes but used the dripping tea bag to clean and wash both eyes with a different tea bag on each eye and that did the trick. xxxx
@@VeterinarySecrets I really admire what you’re doing here. My 14 yo Egyptian Mau just walked in with a sticker on her eye. She trusted me enough to remove it slowly, all the while drooling from the pain. I’ve not seen her like that before. I’m about to make a tea compress, as I think that will help bring the swelling down and provide her a little relief the most quickly. My poor baby. 😿❤️🩹 I’ll update after the treatment. I’ve subscribed already and am looking forward to perusing more content.
@@minttea8947 Shoot, I completely forgot to update this. Yes! Absolutely 💯 It worked almost right away, and I was even able to squeeze the bag just enough to get a drop or two in her eye before the laceration attempts began LOL I was sooo relieved, because let me tell you, her eye was looking really beat up and it had me very nervous that she might lose some sight in it. But she was fit as a fiddle by the next morning. 👏🏻😻
Thank you so much, Dr. Jones. I will try these remedies and report back on how they've worked for my female orange tabby, Lily. I'm so grateful to people like you who share DIY remedies for animals and/or people. I don't have money for a vet, so your video is a life saver.
You've changed your format Dr Jones...I like it too good for short treatment reference. Thanks I didn't know about the honey serum always learn something new with you!!!!.
I got a kitten a few days ago and noticed he was squinting his right eye! I'm starting both the honey water and black tea today. I will update how he is doing :) Poor baby. 1st edit: I've done it twice now! I am using a straw with tape at the end which makes it harder lol. I can only do the honey water one with his squirming but IMMEDATELY after I do it, his completely squinted eye can be opened at least 1/2 way. I will gladly continue this for 5 days!!
Okay, not going to lie, I was scared at the thought of even putting anything in my cats eyes but she was so irritable and sad because her eye was irritating her that I tried the eye drops using honey and water. Literally within the day the gooey eye cleared up! I thank you so much for this video. I will be using it on her for the rest of the week just to make sure she’s all better. ❤
Glad I found this channel I’m trying this on my senior kitty thank you!!!Thanks for telling us what most vets don’t want us to know!!!! Just after one treatment his eyes look so much better!!!!😻😻😻
Omg thank you im goi g to try! I rescued 3-4 week old kittens and they were frail and had eye issues. Took them to the vet game me eye meds and a few hundred dollars later they still have issues. One had a cat scratched their eye as a kitten and the vet just said its paralyzed third eyelid. But none have been attentive to their need so ill just take matters into my own hands. Thanks so much ill do these remedies for sure.
Just wanted to say, even though I didn’t read all the comments to know if it was pointed out, Earl grey tea is black tea with bergamot oil or flavoring in it, so probably best to stick with plain black tea. With that said, I’m VERY excited to try this, a sky poor tom has double gooey eyes after getting neutered 2 days ago. I feel terrible. Like it was my fault by sending him off and he was feeling better from the surgery and drugs but seemed warm to me, and now he’s hiding out with gooey eyes and I am sad for him.
Thank you soo much !!! I rescue dogs and cant afford medical treatment all the time but i need to heal them i just cant see them in pain and thanx to you i have ! 🙏🏻❤️Thank you !
Thank you very much for these remedies, I used the honey and water option, it was tolerated by my cat and the infection cleared up after a few days !!! Such a relief. I have also started giving my 2 cats your health formula a month ago and will continue to do so to help with their overall health. Many thanks from me and my cats :) Ps: Murray is a trooper lol :)
@@VeterinarySecrets Hello Dr Jones, could you please recommend, if any, herbal eye drops for cherry eye in cats? One of my cats started recently having a small mass dropping out from the corner of her eye. The honey and water concoction helps a lot when the small lump gets red and swollen but it has come back. I read about surgery possibly being needed but was wondering it there were some holistic options too. Thanks for your time & help !!
@@VeterinarySecrets I once read to soak a cotton wool ball in diluted apple cider vinegar and soak I between the cats ears, so on top of the head and scruff to treat eye infections... I remember treating my cat back then and it worked... Cats will groom and ingest the ACV which is good for them... If any pet accepts it then a couple drops in their drinking water is good for them.
green tea with honey worked for me, we dipped a cotton swab in the honey tea and then applied it to our cats eye . 2 times a day he is all better now only took 4 days to completely heal thank you DR
@@lexieg.419 My kitten was one and half month old when her eyes got infected. I used the number 1 treatment. I used tea to drop on my kitten's eyes. And it was very effective and helpful.
It feels so strange to put drops of honey water into my cat’s eyes! But I’ve done it twice now today.... praying his eyes start getting better soon! His eyes have been weeping a bit, and his third eyelids are covering most of his eye right now. Pretty sure it’s conjunctivitis. I’ll update how this works in the coming days. Hoping this saves me a trip to the vet and helps our poor Toby feel better! 🙏🏼
sounds like it. My poor Tatiana deals with this a lot. Her eye looked like a pink blob the other day but I have learned that it's just the swollen conjunctiva protruding a bit. I have used eye drops from the vet in the past but am interested in these remedies instead.
Thank you!!! My Maine Coon “Duffy” his eye was puffy and watery and the black tea alone worked. He’s just about back to normal after a few days of treatment.
Saw this and was very skeptical. Sifted through the comments to see if this vid was legit and couldnt really find any solid ones Alas i tried the half cup warm water with raw honey method out of desperation because visit to the vet would have costed me 150$ (Im a broke ass college student) My cat is a handful so i could only manage 3 drops a day ( maybe 4 if i was lucky) and geuss what. It WORKED! her eye looks Great!! Im shooketh Had to come back and update the comments. Thanks a bunch!! Saved me 150!
I feel you on the looking to see if its legit. I was crying because I hate seeing my Iggy in any discomfort. Im going to go get some raw honey in the morning. If his eye doesnt look any better by Monday morning when the vets open, I’ll take him in. At least its something to try for now 😞
Thank you soo much! I"m currently on a very limited budget due to not working from Covid so thank you soo much. I can't afford a huge vet bill at this time. So thankful for your advice! xoxox
Three years and this video ia still getting views. I tries the black tea and it works. Better than the store bought cat eye wash and gel.The gel actually seemed to make his eye worse. I brewed some black tea, dropped a few drops in his eye and uses the bag a warm compess. It works! Thank you 👍😁
Thank you for this! My cat is old and nervous, so I don't like bringing her to the vet if it's not necessary. I think she had conjunctivitis because her eye was winking and watering and it was a little pink around it. Within minutes of this video, I made my own safe eye drops for my cat. I used weak chaga tea, a little manuka honey, a few drops of colloidal silver, and the tiniest pinch of sea salt. I dropped it in a few times over the next two days, and in the third day she woke up with her eye looking fine. I'll keep up with the drops for 5 days.
i walked down to the store in 95 degree heat and almost got hit by a car only once in crosswalk, CVS was nice enough to donate a syringe, apply 3 times a day for 5 to 7 days. See what happens next. I have 5 cats in the house and 2 black alley cats in my back yard. I think the cat is not dying, he still has an appetite. I just started treatment. I took care of my mom until she died, so I can play field medic with the cat. We care for our cats the best we can but they eventually die anyhow.
So I chose to use raw honey and honestly worked great. I started seeing results after 2-3 days then continued until my cat could totally open her eye. HOWEVER, I am not a vet but if I were to give any advice it would be to continue giving the drops a few days after you think you should stop. I stopped too soon and it came back and I did the treatment again but for a few days longer and she has been completely clear since!! Awesome video.
Thank you so much for your video I was worried since it was a weekend and wouldn’t be able to get my kitty to a vet till probably Tuesday since I’m not sure if they are open for Labor Day and this helped his eye so much he no longer squinting it pained me to see him like that I’m so grateful for this video 😊also my kitty says thank you
His personality is what got my attention. He is not pretentious. Doctors are a group of people I usually do not get along with. Dr. Andrew Jones is the exception to that.
I just came across your video while searching for help for our adopted cat's eye. We have seen a vet multiple times for her constant eye infections. Nothing works. Just started this today 11/11/22 and I also will pick up the L-Lysine. I will update.
Wow, great to discover this channel during lockdown! My cat has an eye infection, and vet clinics and pet supplies stores are closed. Will try the tea solution (have some green tea here at home) for 5-7 days. Hope it will work! Thanks for sharing this with us. Just subscribed to your channel.
I just rescued 2 stray cats and both of them have a white gunk coming out, but one has it worse, both his eyes look swollen and he can’t see. I don’t want it to lead to permanent blindness
My 2 year old nebelung just got his first eye infection about 4 days ago. I decided to try the honey and distilled water remedy. his eye is MUCH better now and he’s resting like a champ. Thank you so much for your remedies. 🥰
Na your a blessing man I truly love my kitten I was nervous cause I didn't know what to do I didn't the honey drops from one of your video n man her eye been healing
thanks, ps. Lime can also be used by humans who suffer from herpes if there is a wound, very sore and hot, but only for a few minutes, and the wound heals without a trace. The lime is split and the water is immediately applied to the wound.
Hi, one more question. Can I use the black tea in place of half cup of water and just mix the raw honey in with it? 1/2 cup steeped black tea tspn honey
Thanks so very much! My Isaiah has been having some brown drainage out of one eye only, and not purulent, no winking, and it doesn't seem to be bothering him and there is no obvious issue with the eye.......I am most definitely going to try the tea!
How do you know it's conjunctivitis? My cat's eye lid is a little swollen on the outside part of the lid. And looks like just a little hair is missing in the same area...which is near the outside part of his eye lid...mostly on the top part of his eyelid...?
I'm not sure weather to put tea in his eye or not.. What if there's little fine fibres from the tea bag , can this hurt it further? Just because its his eye I wanto make sure I don't hurt him any further.. I guess even looking in his eye I risk dust particles etc.. Its all a little scary.. Bless u.
Dr. Jones I feed a colony of feral cats and 2 let me pet them. Today I noticed one has a very watery eye and doesn't want me trying to check his eye.. Which remedy do you recommend I treat his eye with? and wish me good luck trying to get him to let me lol.
THANK you. I just rescued a tiny white kitten. I noticed it's eyes looked irritated and it was COVERED in fleas. I just bathed it for almost a half hour under warm (constantly running) water, using No More Tears baby shampoo... If the eyes still look irritated tomorrow, I'll give the homey remedy a go. Again, thank you for this video ! :)
Hi doc. Love your videos especially coz mostly you're talking remedies instead of chemical pharma crap. Thanks loads BTW, it's best to use a ceramic, glass or plastic spoon (first 2 preferred) on honey. Using metal spoons best be avoided since. Thanks for the videos. Cheers
If you desire quick relief, as I’m sure your cat does, then I highly recommend investing in a bottle of high quality colloidal silver!! Just a few days ago, I saw my baby boy‘s eye closed and oozing... come to see it was pink eye/ an infection of some sort. Super sad to see your pet with such a sensory blockage!! Just like humans, they aren’t themselves when something isn’t working as usual 😓 I bottled raised my kitties just a year ago, and back then one of my babies also had a goopy eye that wasn’t opening right. My friend had the brilliant idea to put colloidal silver in her eye and VOILÀ! The irritation cleared up! So, with that experience in mind, I went out to The Vitamin Shoppe and got some “Sovereign Silver.” By nightfall, and after only a few spaced out drops, his eye was open again without any fleshy pink!! 😂 Within TWO DAYS of the infection starting, my kitty’s eye had completely opened and healed! And I only put a few drops in the first day-that’s it! I hope this helps someone out there ❤️
I would let them drink it but I will try my little red cat has an eye problem to were you can't see his eye and now I'm worried bc it was a bubble at first as if his eyelid was irritated. He is also embred he is a stray baby
I dilute the colloidal silver ofc and it worked on some of my cats but he is little and doesn't go for water much just now has been able to drink bc he is little but I will put a super small bit of silver n see. I'm doing honey now I hope u see this
