Alright, I JUST tested this in-game and confirmed that explosive shot during TnT can be fired 3 times in a 4 gcd window without dropping any ticks of damage. Casting ExS x2, then arcane (or cobra), then ExS again results in a full 9 ticks of damage, wheras casting it back-to-back does 7, and casting it with filler between each cast still only results in 9. So, when you get a TnT proc, immediately cast 2 explosive shots (slightly delay second shot by a hair only if you are moving toward the boss, the shortened travel time can result in it refreshing too fast and you dropping a tick of damage), followed by a filler (Kill shot if target under 20%, arcane shot if over 70, cobra shot if under 70) and then your last non-TnT cast of ExS. 6:55 The haste soft-cap of _757_ is so that you can fit 3 cobra shots perfectly between 2 ExS, it has nothing to do with filler between ExS during TnT.
we should be on the patch with the LNL "semi fix" so we can do Exp,Exp,Arc.Exp Shot or weave in cobra but as long as there isnt a pre existing tick of Explosive shot we can back to back the 1st 2 and not override the tick and still get 9 ticks of dmg
Yeah, I remember that from original Cata. It was LnL1, wait a tiny smidge after gcd finishes before sending second LnL (due to lag and flight time sometimes you would refresh Explosive shot too fast and it wouldnt get full ticks), then you would hit it with a filler, and then your non-LnL explosive shot. I am unsure the state of explosive shot in Cata Classic atm, I do think it should be tested though. i don't think its a rotation order. it seems to just be an on screen ability use for streaming. try looking up scrolling abilities used weak aura, might find what you're looking for there!
Ive always wanted a mixed melee/range spec with hunter. Im having fun placing my traps smacking with my huge sword then getting those sweet explosive shot procs. Lots of fun for me in dungeons
So I have a question. In cata which is more important, stats or weapon DPS? Say I find another ranged weapon that has -1 agi but + 3.9 dps. Should I take it? Or keep what I have?
Can you give us a video on Add ons for debuff timers, Week Auras, Macros? Anything to help be most efficient. Im returning after 18 years. Never played a hunter, I am semi Cheeks. Thanks in advance!
So I’m at the hit cap, all my items have Crit on them, but I have like 1300 haste and idk what to do with it, because I can’t add Crit and mastery isn’t useful😂
Great guide! But i've found that after using the final lock n load proc its better to not use a Cobra shot and to instead just wait until around 0.5 sec left on the current ES and then put it on CD. Hope this helps someone
What do you mean exactly? Why would you not want to fill the gap between every ES with a cobra shot? If you cap your haste out at 757 you can time a cobra shot perfectly after an explosive shot falls off opening you up whatever you might need to use focus on next in your rotation.
@@jaharis You’d think so. But, as the shot travels, it still lets the current ES tick, and it varies on range; so you need to learn how to do that to avoid clipping, but also use that to get rid of your current lock and load to proc another. Learned this in the classic hunter discord. Hope that helps
Just wondering; isn't starting with serpent sting better on single targets cause it also buffs the damage of your next explosive shot, also maybe giving it an additional chance to proc before casting your first cobra shot?
Nope, essentially getting your Explosive Shot on CD immediately works out to be more damage overall than delaying it by 1 GCD. In practice though the difference is negligible.
Anybody know all the options for trap launcher macro and how to write them? I haven't really used macros in a long while like mouseover or @target position or anything. Can someone help out?
Autoshot is now unaffected by movement and rotation. It will ALWAYS be going unless you intentionally mess it up with an old macro or something. It is literally of no concern anymore unless you intentionally fuck it up.
It isn't. It is always priority if it is up. We even use the glyph for 2 kill shots. Been playing hunter since BC personally & playing it again in Classic.
747 haste is for Cobra shots, not Lock & Loads. Your rotation is off as well. Kill shots are always priority, especially since we are using Glyph of Kill Shot.
I have mage, rogue, and hunter all at 80 ready to go. Mage and rogue geared AF, Hunter not very. I guess gear doesn’t come into it as it’ll be replaced fast. Ahhhh what to focus on?!
quick question , if i already soft hit cap and soft haste cap what shall i do with the rest of stats? since all the gear has crit chance i cant reforge , should i go mastery instead or going for more haste??
You mention that Survival hunter will be one of the best dps until last phase. How do they fair last phase? Do they drop multiple spots to stronger p4 classes?
Casters with staff and rogues with daggers will dominate last phase. A good hunter that knows fights, and their class well etc is still a million times better than a bad rogue or caster with legendary weapons. I’d say last phase they drop down to a mid to high A-tier level if you’re a good hunter. Just my opinion, this can change.
You did not mention Explosive Trap VS Black Arrow.. Is Black Arrow better than Explosive Trap now? Since Explo Trap seems to be proccing Lock and Load way more
the new LnL makes hunter more interactive to play and it's not even like it's a big deal.. you just weave an arcane or cobra shot between each explosive shot
Skill issue tbh. But I do understand if you played 4-3-4 rank explosive shot in wrath . Get your soft haste cap and dump a arxcane shot it’s easy enough
