Thanks for describing that CatacombGL issue with the monster health in novice mode. Good find! It will be fixed in the next release of the source port.
Oh my god, I _just_ noticed the way there's text in the HUD that says "Retreating", "Sidestepping" or whatever else you're doing in the game as well now. That is so amusingly silly!
@@Hindbodes I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of a strategy to make the HUD as large as possible. Which gives the 3D view less screenspace and therefor better performance.
It is possible since the game does not have the border setting some Wold3D and DOOM engine games had. And perhaps the messages themselves are also a nod to early dungeon crawlers and text adventures where you had to choose such commands to progress. "Turn Left", "Turn Left", "Retreat", "Forward" :D

The game does not have the best balancing with items and their effects but their use shall come shortly! You usually do not need to use them unless you are surrounded but I am going to change that once the high HP enemies show up...
