32 years for me and totally adore metal, both old and new - so many excellent bands I never heard of as back in them days everyone was on cassettes with the INTERNET NOT CREATED - FUCKING HELL - try to imagine that now lol...! Death, Possessed, Napalm Death, Lawnmower Deth and of course Venom all branded me a Satanist at age of 16 pmsl, nothing has much has changed except for knowledge that devil is the light; lucifer is the light that shines bright in the darkest voids of our mind and indeed the external cosmos's mind. Peace and 666 to all :):):)
I Was a friend of "Mike", rhythm guitarist... Remember a rehearsal in the basement of the drummer during summer 1992 (south of france powaaaa ;-) !!!)... I bought a demo (tape) at this occasion...
This is one of the greatest collection of death metal songs I have ever heard. Quite a big claim for such an obscure and forgotten band. I would have loved to hear a full length from these guys. I'm sure it would have ranked among the all-time greats. The atmosphere created here is just perfect. True Death Metal!
Yup. I love Timeghoul. The lyrics to Occurance on Mimas are the most terrifying lyrics ever. Far more frightening than the standard war, disease, satan, criminals, and what have you.
This record is not even that death metal. It has so much melodic and progressive acessories to their music (which is fine by itself) that it classifies as "True" death metal only for some portions of it's length. Also, @Eternal Slumber Most great extreme metal is know or becomes known over time. Gorement and Timeghoul are good examples of great bands that took people long enough to find out about but now everyone knows them. CAUSE THEY'RE FUCKING GOOD. People like listening and talking about good music so it get's known, basic stuff, really .
Personally, I like death metal much more brutal and pure, but here it amazes me that the vocalist uses a growl as distinctive as if it were the furious monster coming out of a cave, what a great band, excellent work.
Their main focus is the structure of melodies and the songs feel like being driven by the melodies and the melodical aspect themselves, rather than typical death metal led by harshness and heaviness of groovy riffs; which are still melodic in their own field, but far from being anywhere close to cheesy/generic pop melodic death metal
I bought this EP back in the days based on the cool cover alone, and oh boy I was happy to hear the two songs on here. Great EP. The record single only had the two first songs, and the cassette had all of these mentioned here.
Glad to find a non-tryhard vocalist that lets the instruments play their part. Also the growls are well made, they fit with the music atmosphere. They don't stand out nor scream constantly. Perfectly balanced.
Yo encontré esta cinta arrumbada en las cosas que mis hermanos mayores ya no usaban, y me encanta esta banda, mi cinta ya se pega de tanto haberla oído, y lo encuentro aquí muchas gracias, gran banda francesa
I’ve discovered so many Demos and EPs from old Death Metal bands this week that are nearly lost to time! This is incredible, I hope to get it on vinyl at some point! Along with the Maimed Demo reissue!
Hallucinated Mountains is a masterpiece, guitar riffs and solos, vocals, everything build up a haunted atmosphere.... Holy Fuck, everything about this ep is a work of art !
God haven't heard this in so many years! The doomy death metal sound is so fucking awesome! The time changes in the middle of the songs kill it so good! Anyone that wants to send me this on cd or vinyl I will love ya long time 😂
What is a band that come along with main vocals, two guitars (rhythm and lead), keyboards, bass and drums? If you thought a power metal band, well... You're wrong, IS THIS SUPREME MASTERPIECE OF DEATH METAL! 🤘🏾🔥
I got this recommended from a playlist after playig Cenotaph (MX), it's hitting the 2:14 mark now and I know as hell for sure i won't be disspointed. Yeah, i see Kthulhu, I click.
this is great,I like it very much at the first listening..his deep voice is unique and perfectly matches to the name ''catacomb'' if you ask me :) ..too bad there's no more of their music on youtube
you can pruchase a rerelease of alltheir material via legion of death records from france, or the sublabel called arme de la morte, fucking recommended
