Before today I thought it was impossible to play this sonata better than you play in your CD, but this interpretation is amazing. I have no words........ Thanks to You and Ting Yu. Outstanding!
Catalin Rotaru When I looked on Sheet Music plus the Solo Bass part was written in D Minor cause it says to tune the Bass up a Whole Step and you're using Solo Tuning Strings cause they're designed for tuning up a Step.
My Dear Cat, you are ranging so far from home! Now Taiwan. And Brahms! This sonata may have fewer "fireworks," but there are more opportunities to make your tone shine out. Thank you so much for always giving all of yourself. Fond greetings, Gil
@UC1l30YP6nyJdnlQXFavFaWA I played this on a Double Bass in the Double Bass Octave throughout (Octave lower than the Cello version) by restringing my Double Bass in Fifths with 5ths Tuning Strings (CGDA) so I could play the Cello part as written on the Double Bass. I find 5ths tuning allows me to play repertoire that was originally not written for Double Bass such as Cello pieces down an Octave as well as Violin & Viola pieces down 2 Octaves.
This interpretation is beautiful, and you are wonderful! But really, why don't you just play cello instead? It appears that you like it best than bass.
If he has technic to play it shut up , cello have better literature deal with it(wee have great too but they have better :() .Im bassist too but sometimes wee need to bee real !
Just because bassists play a lot of pieces originally written for different instruments doesn't mean we want to play other instruments. A lot of these pieces fit the double bass very well, are fun to play and sound amazing on it. I play double bass because I love the sound of the instrument, not because of the pieces specifically written for double bass.
