Wow. That's such a lovely instrument. Must have been very expensive. Also you play that piece soo well with so much passion… Also the piano player does a great job, I think. those two colors fit together very well :)
I am Bass major at Otterbein university and I absolutely adore this solo. I can't find sheet music for it anywhere! The sad bass solos are the best solos.
German vs French bow is entirely personal preference. Also most classical bass players sit while playing. It helps a lot by taking the weight of the instrument away. And not to mention if you were playing in a 4 hour opera you would most certainly rather sit then stand.
