My question is if you use bleach an hcL and you remove some platinum and the go back with aqua Riga and you are doing batches of the stuff wouldn't t the aqua Riga last a lot longer as the first asid bath did some of the work that otherwise would use up the aqua Riga quicker ? I am for the cheapest way, nitric acid is expensive unless you make it yourself which takes special equipment and is dangerous esepecially if you are not experienced in doing it so a 2 step process even if it takes a long time if it is much cheaper I could do that but if the savings is small by all means aqua Riga all the way my time does have value but asid coss money too :-)

I think you can use sodium clorate instead of bleach. It's a lot more effective on gold maybe it will work on pgms.

I have seen this method before. In my opinion the first way was the best and really the only way. Which is to use aqua regia and not this method. This method may work better if it was power and you add the breach to it under heat. Don't know as I haven't done it.

Yeah I missed that two. Sounded like aluminum said the British way with the first half of the word cut off. Which makes sense since it's higher up on the reactivity series of metals.
