I know you were talking about the mayan cichlid, but to clarify, cichlids are fish from the family cichlidae. Tilapia is a cichlid, jaguar is a cichlid, oscars are cichlids, the peacock bass is a cichlid, etc...

Part of the veiny look is just from being a smaller fish. Happens with bream, small catfish, crappie, etc. too. Also it is hard to not overwhelm a small fish with that sort of breading. Try it grilled/broiled to really taste it!

Liked the vid. I very much appreciate how you show us all the steps to your catch and cooks, from the catching to the eating. I also like how you are brutaly honest about the taste. You don't just say, "Hey this is wonderful" and just create any clickbait or drama circulating around the fish and it's taste. Thank you for uploading these videos. Keep up the good work...

Oh man this takes me back. I visited my uncle in Nicaraguar (He was supervising a reforestation program), and we spent a week or two waaaaay up the San Juan River. I'd go fishing with guys from the local village every now and then, and that river was full of guapotes. They were absolutely crazy for those fish, and after trying it for the first time I could understand why! Edit: They would just gut them and throw em in the frying pan whole though.

honestly. True catch and cook. prep your catch, but leave a good sized chunk with very little to no seasoning. that way you can taste the true flavor of the fish. I can make 1 single species of fish taste so many different ways.
@iamlugginit2290
@iamlugginit2290 7 лет назад
Just a little peice of advice. When your cooking small fish it's better just to gut them and bake whole. By doing that you end up saving a lot more meat that would otherwise be wasted by filleting them. It's fine to fillet bigger fish though.

You need to soak over night ,or a few hrs, in salt water pull out the blood, I am sure it will help most fish.! I wish I could catch all those tropical fish. Well good fishing
