"Throw the kitchen sink." Man, I feel like I've been doing that all year and still coming up empty. I don't know what is up with this year for me, but fishing has been tough. So much so lately I've questioned why I bother. I know they say any day of fishing beats a day at work, but it really gets to you when you're not catching anything almost every time.
You should try a swim jig around lay downs and I have been catching them on a fluke with a swimbait hook with a screw lock keeper on the eye like an Owner but a 4/0 to 5/0
I’ve been in your shoes. Keep at it! You’ll find them! One thing that has really helped me get bites is throwing soft plastics (weightless fluke/paddle tail, and throwing a Texas rig) and fishing slower than I’d usually fish. I think one of my biggest realizations as well is “find the fish willing to cooperate” rather than fishing one spot thoroughly for hours. I’ve learned to move on and hit things and areas where I believe to hold fish. Tight lines! I was skunked like 4 times on this huge lake, 8ish hour days each time, over the course of maybe a month and a half. It sucks skunking when you’ve put in a lot of time to go fish. My consistent lures/techniques that have worked here in Tx: Texas Rig (black and blue, darker colors, plum), Chatterbait (mini, cut down paddle tail, white and chartreuse color), football jig (green/chartreuse, black/blue), and a large 6” yellow white/grey swimbait lol. My spots have been in thicker vegetation in like 2-4’ of water, on dams, and where I can find rocks with steep drops. The bite is good in the morning, ish, and I really have to find good spots specifically in shade once the sun is out and it’s 100+ out.
Hey man that's my home Lake! Philpot is a hard lake to fish. Hope you have a video of that episode! Can't wait to see it! Thank you for the great content.
Can't emphasize enough how spot on Tyler is when he talks about lure sizing. If I'm filling up a limit I downsize. But when I need that 1 big bite to put my limit over the top. If its early/mid August, 1:30 in the afternoon, sun beating down, wind dead calm. Take the biggest glide or swimbait you have, and go to the best offshore structure with bait around it you know of and try it out.
Thanks Tyler for these techniques can't wait to try it out on my local fishery to try and get big Northern Pike that is in there with the 3 species of Bass
I’ve only been catching bass over 5 pounds the past 3 weeks. I’m not catching many fish when I go, but the ones I am catching are all 5 and better. This really is one of the best times to catch bigger fish. You just have to be patient because you are t going to get bites on every other cast.
July has been incredible for me up in Canada. And August so far has been hot... But still very good! I attribute that to me following a lot of your advice last year. My favorite thing so far this year has been asking what everyone is catching em on. Spinner? I'll go straight to drop shot... What color is everyone using? Always white and black and blue? Perfect I'll go pumpkin goby... I've been absolutely destroying while everyone is struggling... I love it...
Good points raised in this one. Now, I'm off to put much heavier line on my big catfish rods so I can just attach the entire tackle box... 🤣😂🤣. Seriously, Tyler, this really is the best time of year to be throwing something unique instead of the same old tried and true. I'm thinking of giving the 6" swim bait completely soaked in methiolate on an Alabama rig with inline spinners (Rooster tails, Mepps) on the outside. Thoughts? 👍🇺🇸
So I was out on a lake August 6th and the temperature of the lake was 72 degrees, it's my understanding at that temperature oxygen levels won't be an issue, is that correct?
July has been a massive grind for me. It’s been difficult. Also, there isn’t an option for international shipping in FINN. Is there plans for that in the future? I’m trying to get some stuff, but I’m in Canadia.
I was literally throwing the kitchen sink and nothing was biting so I put a piece of worm on my bluegill pool hook the bluegill put them on my bass pole and toss them back out ended up catching almost a 4 lber I wish I could share pictures on here
You know, it's every time you're gonna go catch your big wapper.Get your f***** out of water when you get your vodka out the water. So he can have everybody beyond what you're catching. On I was just always tell them the truth of sufficiently fishing Pole, BOLA fishing pool. That's what I was usingYou know, it's every time you're gonna go catch your big wapper.
