***UPDATE: This video has also been completely demonetized and I have no idea why (appeals failed with no info given). It really makes it hard to keep paying my editor and posting videos when they are getting demonetized. If you guys can go watch some of my older videos that would really help out my channel so I can keep posting 😕😕😕

IDK how much of this Story is True, but I too Believe that it's really Possible. Recommendation for Tom Hanks: Classic Comedy known as "The 'Burbs." Put that Movie on any Poll, and the Votes Will Come...👌

The answer to that question is No!, he fabricated most of the events. There’s a documentary you can view on RU-vid regarding the accuracy of his stories, having said that it’s a great film and his public speeches are very entertaining. One of my all time favourite films The Burbs.

Despite being billed as a true story, there has lately been a LOT of suggestion that Abagnale exaggerated most of his stories and was more of a petty crook than he made out. BUT, that still makes him a damn good con man, because if nothing else he managed to convince once of the best directors in movie history to tell his story.

I agree. In every movie! Jen, if you're reading this: are you a musician? Or just a music lover! I think this is one of John Williams' best scores. "Close Encounters" is still my favorite score of his......but the music is a plot point in that movie! So it's not really fair to compare it, but other than that, I think this is my favorite score from him that isn't Jaws or Star Wars. As for Tom Hanks movies, "Philadelphia" (1993) it was pretty much his first real serious straight role. Without Philadelphia Tom Hanks might still be the comic actor he started out as. One interesting anecdote in the book was when he was living in the posh house as a doctor, he had a doctor neighbor who would always chat him up about medical topics that Frank couldn't answer. The opening scene was combined with some footage of an actual game show, To Tell the Truth, from an episode that aired in 1977. The basic premise of the show was that there were three people all claiming to be the same person. A statement written by that person was read by the host, and a panel of four celebrities would question the contestants to try and figure out who the real one is. After the panel votes, the host says "Will the real (person's name) please stand up?". As for the actual Frank Abagnale, it's been called into question in more recent years as to whether he actually did some of the things he claimed to have done in his book.

Such an underrated movie. It's essentially a coming of age film. Frank is a kid who idolizes his father and clings to the childish fantasy of his family reuniting. He lives in glamor and denial while constantly running away from reality. He falls for Brenda because of her childish innocence, but that dream is shattered. Hanratty, meanwhile, is an alternate father figure, unglamorous and uncharming but steadfast, honest, and holding Frank accountable. The ending is bittersweet; Frank is disillusioned but finally grows up. Christopher Walken is incredible in this and his character never fails to make me cry.

@@joelwillis2043 In December 1978, Abagnale's claims were again investigated after he visited Oklahoma City for a talk.[32] As part of his investigation into the story, Perry spoke with Pan Am spokesman Bruce Haxthausen, who responded to the journalists' inquiry saying: This is the first we've heard of this, and we would have heard of or at least remember[ed] it if it had happened. You don't forget $2.5 million in bad checks. I'd say this guy is as phony as a $3 bill. - Ira Perry, The Daily Oklahoman, "Inquiry Shows 'Reformed' Con Man Hasn't Quit Yet", December 10, 1978

Captain Phillips. Great Hanks movie, also based on a true story. He's actually played real people quite a lot in his career.

The real Frank Abagnale used to live a couple miles from me when he lived in Tulsa (I think he lives in South Carolina now). His home was just your average middle-class looking home in a suburban neighborhood. Never got to meet the guy, unfortunately, though.

There was actually a greater imposter than Abagnale. That even did surgery on a Canadian Hospital shipsuring the Korean war. It was a basis for a book and a movie. The Great Imposter with Tony Curtis

I will suggest the early ones - when he was a comedian -> Big is a must, but also the Man with One Red Shoe, Joe vs. the Volcano , Volunteers and the Money Pit.This was before he could pick great movies and it is fun to excel in the lesser roles. All are good because of him and a couple are pretty great

if you're a reader who enjoyed the movie, you'll probably also enjoy the book. The movie Does take some creative liberties but still a crazy story and a great read

Darling Jen, never disappear from RU-vid! We need you ❤ Wonderful reaction as always, this is such a fun breezy movie. Genius film-making as always from Spielberg. I adore your appreciation of film scores and share your love of the incredibly brilliant and beautiful John Williams. Two of my favourite scores of his which perhaps you might consider watching:- The Fury (1978) a rather gory horror espionage escapade from Brian De Palma Dracula (1979) a lush romantic version starring Frank Langella The Williams scores for both are stunning and both movies are, in my opinion, highly enjoyable 😊

The Terminal. Tom Hanks. Steven Spielberg. John Williams. So maybe its not quite as good a movie as this one but IMO its way underrated. Fun movie and would make for excellent react.

Along with the book Frank wrote, I also suggest the book "The Greatest Hoax on Earth: Catching Truth, While We Can" by Alan Logan. Basically, a lot of the story Frank wrote is complete fiction. Ironically, he is one of the biggest conmen, but for different reasons than presented in his story.
