Hey Kip, really like your videos. I make lights like this. I use waterproof lights and skip the clear pvc and the weights. They work great. The lights draw phytoplankton which draws small fish which draw larger fish.

I like that light for darn near anything. I see getting a multicolored light strip with strobe effects and making 2 or three for tree decorations in the yard for garden parties and night time gatherings. Not to mention cool mood lighting for seasonal occasions like Christmas, New Year and July 4th. What a simple and really nice build.

Two minor differences I would have done: 1) I'd have sprung for the programmable LED light strip so that you could get it to change color. Of course, I'd be using this more for decoration than for attracting fish, so the different use would drive that change. 2) I'd have made sure to use the silicon on the inside of the cap as well before securing it to the tube. Might be overkill, but I figure if you're going to try to make something water tight, might as well take all the steps to lock it down for sure.

This is cool! Just make sure to check your local fishing laws on using artificial light (anything but daylight) to lure fish, and if you can fish after dark.

This actually has so many other potential uses: aquarium light, pool light, mood light, etc, but probably best of all, you can go RGB for a REALLY cool effect :D

Hey kipkay, could you try to make a self-made-lightsaber, battery-powered with LEDs or something - since the lightsabers are expensive as hell, you are maybe the one that can provide a cheaper, still great looking version :) greetings!

To make portable version, you can use 3s Lipo battery (11.1-12.6V) used in RC models.

you can make it into a flashlight w/ two reed switches relays an power jack w/ cover (one reed switch and relay goes 4 charging and one 4 turning on/off the light

Only thing I would do different is attatch a strong rope or something to the hole the wire comes out and twist the wire around the rope. This way the rope supports the weight of the light and not the wire, which is more important.

I use a small alarm battery when i go walking to fish or drive up to the pond.I have a twelve volt battery and a twelve volt light and i hook up to the battery with nothing in between.

In places like WI and MN, the real fishermen are actually talented. No need for illuminating the whole lake basin to attract fish. It would be more difficult to go to the store to buy fish fillets than doing this hipster technique .

Les King I get what you're saying, but I would rather make it the way this guy did and have a $15 inverter from Harbor Freight in case I wanted to use it from my boat at some point and also be able to plug it somewhere on my dock at other times. Personal preference but if you're not planning on using it other than on a boat, yes convert it to 12vDC only when you make it.

It... I've just realized something after all these years of watching kipkay on and off... He kinda has a kermit the frog voice... If he just put a little effort into getting that kermit voice I'm sure he would be a great kermit voice actor. He even does it accidentally sometimes when he is straining with his voice a bit! XD
