With a name like Catch of the Season, you might expect that this contain the bounty of the sea. Yeah, about that…no. From New Ideas in Sandwiches from 1932, this sandwich does start off with a seafood component the takes a hard left. Not terribly but I would never of thought to combine these ingredients. So guess it was a new idea in sandwiches after all!

Sounds more like "I don't have enough leftover shrimp for a sandwich" sandwich. Oh, that was good I'll add it to the cookbook. Like the horseradish plus up, a shrimp cocktail vibe.

I have fond memories of my grandfather waking me up at 5 in the morning to go fishing with my uncle and cousin... we would load up my uncle's truck with gear and head down to launch the boat and get in the water as early as possible. We'd motor out to my uncle's favourite spot at the southern tip of Cortes Island in the Straight of Georgia off of the east coast of Vancouver Island. Y'know... where you can catch all the best EGGS.

I'd probably chop shrimp and tomato, then scramble them into the eggs with some Old Bay or the seasoning you used and toss in that white sauce. Personally, I'd have to go easy on the horseradish, as I find it overpowering. I'll try this out and let you know!

I feel like with that horseradish, it literally becomes a shrimp cocktail sandwich, and the eggs are relegated to texture-only 😅

this is exactly the kind of thing I'd throw together in the midst of midnight desperation, douse in A1 tnh sauce and absolutely devour it, then wonder why I dont feel so good. I wonder if cocktail sauce instead of just tomatoes would lend more to the shrimp cocktail taste lol
