So today I ventured out to a local beauty spot here in Lancashire called Beacon Fell, a very popular walking area for many people, however, today's walk will take me away from the crowds and through the fields and farms of the countryside, and along the streams where I hope to see dipper's and kingfisher's as well as some hares.
Today started off walking over the summit of beacon fell and down into the fields below here I encountered my first hares running across the fields and under the hedgerows, chasing each other while stopping occasionally for a bite to eat on the luscious green grass.
it was very wet on the foot and wearing Wellington boots would have been the preferred choice of footwear today, however, I opted for my walking boots which seemed to be working fine albeit the bottom of my trousers became very wet and muddy.
I eventually reached the river below, where there were many people and dog walkers enjoying a Sunday stroll, my first thoughts were that I wasn't going to see anything as there were far too many people around, so I walked as far as I could without going too far off my chosen route, and I was not disappointed spotting a dipper in the distance I made my way round to a bend in the river where are managed to find a dry spot to sit and wait what's the deepest flew by, I've managed to get some photos of them gathering moss for their nests, as I sat there, a Kingfisher flew past a couple of times and landed on a branch some distance away but I still managed to capture a little bit of video of the Kingfisher sitting on a branch over the river, along with the Kingfisher were some grey wagtails jumping from rock to rock looking for worms.
Eventually, I picked up my rucksack and carried on as I was nearly halfway around the intended route, when I suddenly entered a lovely greenfield where I noticed that there were several hares running around, so I slowly and quietly made my way along the edge of the field following the hedgerow where I found a spot to sit and wait, hoping that the hares would come my way so that could video and photograph them, after half an hour the hares appeared and I got some wonderful videos and photos of the hares running around and eating grass as they carried on ignoring my presence.
A fantastic day and a few new wildlife photography locations to add to my map.
