I'm 77 and like my river fishing on the nth tyne and river Derwent, for both trout and salmon having all the kit and more. The trouble is I've now inherited a new family through my Grandson's partner. The 11-year-old used to go sea fishing with his father and living 45 minutes from the northeast coast, it would be great to re-introduce him to beach fishing. But I need to re-tackle everything I have. Unfortunately, his Father is not cooperative in contributing the tackle from his previous relationships. We all have issues, but it's not the kids' fault. I'm learning from these videos11-year-old just to get ahead of a questioning 11yr old.

This video is great and very helpful thanks , I have only been mackerel fishing a few times with my grandad on a boat and I really enjoyed it , I have never tried fishing from the beach but after watching this video I am very exited to give it a go , I will definitely show my grandad this video and we can try fishing on the beach together 👍

Sea fishing is the just the best and that’s simply it. Fishing for mackerel is what fit me into sea fishing and even tho I have delved into freshwater fishing recently I still prefer to fish the sea. It’s always better and there’s always surprises waiting. I’d love to win the mackerel fishing set.

started coarse fishing with a friend for mental health reasons many years ago, moved 250 miles away to south Wales coast, and decided I would like to try sea fishing for some new experiences, and hopefully make new friends. Just need to get some tackle together. Fishing isn't just about catching.

I have fond memories of sea fishing from the shore with my grandad decades ago. He’s passed on now but I’ve been enjoying fishing and all sorts of angling pursuits over the last year. This video and that kit will be a great entry for anyone wanting to get into sea fishing again!

Great video! For those of you who are just starting out mackerel Fishing, you don't need a 12 foot rod. Personally, I use an 8 foot rod lined with either 15- 20 lbs test mono or 10 lbs braid. Since I make my own mackerel rig (Christmas Tree rig), I generally tie on 5 to 6 hooks to a 10 or 15 lbs mono leader. Since I mostly fish for them from a rock jetty, I usually just use a 2 or 3 oz. lead sinker. These size sinkers are enough to get your hooks way out there. The problem is, you just never know when they will show up. As an avid mackerel angler, I pretty much have an idea when they will show up in my area. That is just something you figure out over time. Hi Fella! Great video. I lived in Dorset for 20 years, went shore fishing for Mackrell about a dozen times. Never any luck🙄. This vid is Really Usefull! I see now my timing was out, month wise. And I now know why I lost those weights and lures. Cheers Guys! (I would love a Mackerel kit and give it a proper go- Mackrell are my favourite eating fish!)

My son (13) loves fishing. No ideas where he gets it from. We paid for him to go out in a boat on a mackeral fishing trip. It poured down with rain and he caught nothing! Fishing from the beach sounds loads better. Thanks for the video.

Have just got back from an afternoon's sea fishing thanks to a friend. Have always been into course fishing which I'm getting back into but he invited myself and the family along for a session. Caught two dogfish and wife has now said I should get into sea fishing instead!!!! I just said I will do both so now need to find some sea fishing stuff.

Good to see Shockleaders mentioned. It really bugs me that tackle shops will sell " Mackeral Kits" to holiday anglers without them. Ive seen some very nasty accidents with leads cracking off on crowded beaches. 😢😡

I had the experience of going mackerel fishing for the first time last year on a boat off the Norfolk coast, and fell in love with it - as well as reeling in a good quantity of fish that fed my family over a weekend. I want to try beach or pier mackerel fishing as the next step from coarse fishing, and what could be better that using the gear and tips from this video? looking forward to the excitement of trying it!

I would love to win this fishing kit as both my boys love fishing. My father passed away in 2021 and loved sea fishing and I inherited one or two rods. I have taken my boys mackerel fishing in the past as they wanted to know why Bampio loved sea fishing so much and they loved every minute of it. Winning this would enable me to watch both of them fishing at the same time, which would be awesome and something my father would be proud of. The only downside will be them arguing who's kit it is.

started beach fishing this year after 60 years coarse fishing - watched plenty of helpful videos on u tube to get started but this was more detailed particularly with regards to the length of the shock leaders and knots used. Also ironed out some of my bad casting habits - cheers for that. Where can you pick up the booklet with size limit specifics to species - that would be so helpful. Although i always return i have been asked for fish by other anglers and people generally walking the beach and i'd like to be sure that what i give away are legal

Interesting to see you put the lead weight on the ground before casting, didn't know we're supposed to do that. Also, is it true that once you handle a mackerel it will die, even if returned to the water?
