I've been fishing Western North Carolina lakes for over 30 years. I've caught 35 Largemouth over 10lbs. You are 100% correct. Im lucky enough to fish private waters. So fishing pressure is very low. Also my lakes don't have spotted bass. Big key no spotted bass. I fish big swim baits, 12" long snake lures, big spoons. I've also found 55 degree water temperature to be the best. Just after Wildlife stocks trout is another good time. As a trophy angler I've found going in terrible weather they bite. I'm talking snow and windy conditions. You have to put in a lot of time. Also be ready for days you get 1 bite or none. I do believe there is a mindset and mental discipline involved. Just like Austin said I've caught them on other smaller lures too. With Glidebaits you are setting yourself up to target big bass. Keep in mind Glidebaits and big spoons you have to horse them to the boat. These fish will come off the hooks too. Be prepared for heartbreak and heart attack bites. There's nothing like it.
Dworshak reservoir is the under the radar lake for monster smallies...because it has deep clear water and kokanee, that place is going to produce the next world record
I live in Rhode Island fish in Massachusetts. I have a special small lake next to me with big bass there definitely eating crappies . As the water warms there schooling around the top of the water . Long story short bass are big in there because of it .
What's happening on Ivie is pretty sad. I live in Texas, and have enjoyed the gift of OH Ivie for the past several years. However, there are so many big old majestic bass that are in such poor conditions now. They're missing an eye, have scars all over its body due to a rigs, and frail looking. We caught a 26" and 27" bass a couple of weeks ago, and neither of them were over 10lbs.
Austin, I am throwing that clutch darter last week and have caught several out on california delta. What would be the best swimbait at this time? Thanks for doing these videos. I know it's only a matter of time for pb
I do need buy a new digital scale! Trying to decide... my current cheaper Rapala digital scale weighs up to 50lb is reading off consistently. I checked it 3 weeks ago now & last Friday evening with two 5 lb & a10 lb weights. It's always 1.2 lbs light. So my 9.3 about a month ago could have been a 10.5? I'm not sure my scale was off at that time? I'm thinking it's probably always been off just got calibrated wrong from factory because it's still consistent? What scale do you use?
The biggest bass I have ever cought was on a float and fly rig it was around ten or 12 pounds with length and girth Also add on lake go in cycles and turn overs for big fish
@@Frostin_Austin yes and no it came off a brush pile with crappie in it and was trying to catch the bass and crappie on the brush pile but he ate with the most supple bite ever
A good mentor of mine once said " fish are just like us. Some days a ribeye steak is mouth watering and we just have to eat one. Some days we just don't feel good, and oatmeal fit our mood". Also elephants eat peanuts. Just make sure you have ribeyes on the boat.
