@@BuggyDClown-og6wq Do you know what you're talking about, though? Each case is unique, but most conservation projects and regulation allow traditional hunting practices for a number of reasons, among them subsistence and cultural preservation. "Natives", as you say, can hardly be held responsible for endangering species. Ever. Large-scale pollution, loss of habitat, industrial fishing and resource exploitation are to blame.
@thenickhelms84
@thenickhelms84 7 месяцев назад
Yeah, but the flesh of the Greenland Shark is toxic when fresh and sled dogs who eat this raw flesh show symptoms similar to drunkenness. In most cases I support the preservation of certain cultural traditions but this practice due to the Greenland Shark's vulnerable status and the fact that it's flesh must be fermented and cured to be made safe to eat in my opinion makes this practice redundant. Just because it's traditional doesn't mean it's practical or even ethical. If this Inuit must feed his dogs, then why not hunt for a Moose or try and catch a Spotted Seal?
@brianamlitt
@brianamlitt 4 месяца назад
I get your point, but there's so many other fish in the ocean. Not only is it rare to see such an old shark, it's also a vulnerable species, lives in deep waters where it likely would never have been caught had they not been literally searching for it. Plus, it might not even taste pleasant.. like most other fish that we honestly can't and shouldn't eat, yet people still eat. Like Napoleon fish, heard those are quite inedible.. but it's unique so people still eat them, and they are endangered too.

I love an appreciate Jeremy's reverence for all life. I am all for his catch and release style of fishing. But I also appreciate how he doesn't try to impose that on everyone he comes in to contact with. He is aware of who he fishes with, their lifestyle and culture. He knows that that shark will take care of his guide and the dogs for a long while and doesn't try to stop it.

Here is information about the Greenland shark, although closely related to dogfish Greenland sharks are much bigger they can grow up to around 6.5 m or more in length.Greenland sharks prefer cold water.they live in the North Atlantic, around Greenland Iceland and Canada, and can stand temperatures as low as 2 ⁰ C. The Greenland shark is a type of sluggish sleeper shark, which is related to another gigantic shark, the Pacific sleeper shark.Alternative names for the Greenland shark include ground shark, gurry shark, grey shark and sleeper shark.The Inuit name for this shark is Luminescent copepods (tiny sea creatures) live in the eyes of the Greenland shark. They make the eyes glow in the dark, which may help lure prey towards the shark. They also damage the sharks eyes by eating the tissue of the cornea (the transparent covering at the front of the eye. Greenland sharks eat fish, squid, seals and sea lions,as well as scavenging on the dead bodies of whales. They are attracted by the smell of rotting meat in the water. One of the largest of all sharks, Greenland sharks are often characters in Inuit legends. In summer, Greenland sharks swim to the surface to find food, but they spend the rest of there time at depths of around 1500 m. Female Greenland sharks give birth to between seven and ten pups at a time. Inuit people caught Greenland sharks on lines through iceholes. They used the skin to make boots and the teeth for knife blades. Fresh Greenland shark meat is poisonous, but it be eaten safely if it is boiled several times. Did you know? Greenland sharks may live for 100 or 150 years, or even longer!

Welcome to Earth in 2019. Everyone is a PC, eco-elitist. None of them understand anything other than "Give me it, it's mine!". Mongrels such as them have never been in a situation where they weren't spoonfed something, so they surely don't understand the idea of having to kill to survive. They're diluted, plain and simple.
