This channel explores fishing with the same child-like glee that Anthony Bourdain explored food. It is not focused on catching the biggest fish (but still does) or being a champion angler but, instead, it hones in on all the little details that make the experience special. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the people. The things we remember. Furthermore, these videos are edited with care and attention to detail. Great channel. Great content.
Bro... your passion for fishing, just FISHIN' for whatever, is unsurpassed... Spectacular camera work, diverse locations, multiple species... you always advocate for conservation, doing things the right way, when out on guerilla sends... just so refreshing in the world of cookie cutter fishing/ outdoor content. I grew up on the Alafia River just south of Tampa, Florida. Tarpon, Snook, Reds, Bass, Mullet were our daily companions as kids, lol! I'm 64 now, but that still burns in me, everyday... keep up the incredible journeys, that take us along, to get that fix Jon... and your Maine stuff drives me crazy. My Mother in Law lives directly on the Penobscot, and I just was up there smashing the Smallies, 26 in a day and a half. River strong, snatch the rod Smallies. Then I went to my Sis in Laws at Little Sebago, and caught a 4 1/2 lb Largie off her dock...
Love casting concrete so much. Always had to drive out a good bit to fish, but it's inspired me to try the urban spots in my city. Just gotta dodge the hobos and tweakers, but there's a special allure to fishing places that are so distinctly un-wild. Like right in the heart of urban areas has an energy all of it's own.
damn i used to watch jon b when i was in high school abt 4-6 yrs ago... the production has increased to say the least. pretty incredible how far hes came
Love that you were able to finally catch that Six Flags bass. I've always looked at those ponds wondering how big some of the bass could be since it's not over fished.
This is really cool. As someone that has grown up in maine fishing small creeks for native brookies, and the penobscot and surrounding lakes for smallies and now largemouth and crappie this is truly out of this world .
People always hit Florida, Alabama, skip right over south Mississippi, and hit Louisiana and Texas. I'd love to see yall hit the coast of Mississippi and break it down and see what you come up with.
Glad to see someone else enjoy catching or even just seeing a gar snap at your fly on a fly rod, floaters always give me weird looks when I chase gar on the fly during the summer
Try fishing good old Michigan, from the Great Lakes to the little ponds and creeks, the upper and lower peninsulas. I'm convinced we have it all. Walleye, Bass both large and small (even good Rock bass), Perch, Northern Pike, Musky, and so much more. We are a state that is no stranger to big fish. Yet we are a state that doesn't get the recondition it deservers in the fishing community. So what do you say, toss your hat in the water, get your hands a little dirty, and catch some big fish.
Cool video. I was born in the rain on the Pontchartrain. So I really enjoy the NOLA videos. Enjoyed seeing the wide range of fishing options in LA. See ya back in TX.
Man I love videos like these. Exploring and fishing! My sister is going to college in Arkansas so when we visit the change from Texas is tremendous. I only knew bobber and worm for fishing but when I went there and after some trials, I got my biggest fish ever. Since then I haven't stopped exploring and expanding my knowledge and arsenal!! So I recommend going to Arkansas.
I always love this series! Amazing video Jon! Maybe you guys could eventually make a casting concrete back in your home town Chicago! Would love to see it!
Casting concrete should come to where I live in West Virginia! There is smallies, largies, musky, pike, carp, cats, there are just a variety of fish and it’s always something different and it would be nice to see you fishing and get a chance to meet you! #KFNS
Moved away from LA last August for various reasons, mostly being so I could go to college. This makes me miss it so much. If you are still there, or going back soon, I highly recommend breaking out the kayaks and taking off to Port Sulphur. It's about an hour south of New Orleans. Put in at Bayou Log Cabins. Clay is a good dude, and will help put you on fish if you ask nicely
I believe WILD LIFE does some of these types of excursions. They're very interesting. You two would be a fun collab video. He could probably get you on a massive alligator gar.
So sick bro! Louisiana native here, love when people bring attention to the Louisiana fishery. IMO the best fishery in the whole United States. No where else cab catch a yellowfin tuna, redfish, speckled Troy and bass all in a few hours
hey love your videos! if you ever wanna catch the biggest freshwater fish ever u must come to europe! u can catch catfishes in size of 2m and 100kg in extremly shallow rivers on sight. its crazy
Definitely go to galveston Texas for reds flounder and specks and in the beach front you can run into bulls, big jacks, and tarpon if you’re really lucky a family friend of mine has already caught 3 tarpon this summer
You should kayak the abandoned 6 flags. I'm from Louisiana and I was there for hurricane 🌀 Katrina and it was not fun. It was devastating and I helped people rebuild and never charged a dime. Yep everything I did was for charity rebuilding south Louisiana.
You should film just west of Charleston SC. The Edisto river is the biggest brackish water river in the US. The red breast sun fish are some of the biggest brim you’ll ever see
Hey if your still in Louisiana which is where I live you should definitely go try out bayou black down in Gibson we have gone down there and caught over 100 bass multiple days in marshes in stuff would definitely be a great video
Louisiana is the sportsman’s paradise for a reason. The fishing and hunting is out of this world. If you wanted to, you could get a duck hunt in the morning, fish during the day, and hop in the deer stand in the evening all in one day, and stay in the same area.
Come to Columbia SC. I have found it impossible to catch a fish without a boat. All waters are private or massive surrounded by houses and “no trespassing or fishing” signs. Real bummer. It would be interesting if you could find a way to do make it happen!
A casting concrete in Michigan would be amazing! You’re never more than 10 mins from a body of water in Michigan and there’s great bass fishing evrrywhere
I really love the kdea of this, finding urban waters ro fish. Ive never really thought about this but im definitely going to do it now lol. I bet if theres enough water, there are some monster bass, catfish, and orher species of fish in some of these places rhat 99% of people dont even know about lol
Doctors Lake in my hometown Orange Park Florida (basically south Jacksonville) is fed by the St. John’s River. I’ve caught everything from Sheepshead to stingrays to shrimp to bluegill to largemouth bass. You could get bit by a shark and eaten by an alligator in the same lake. Bull sharks like to head in there to spawn
That was dope going around showing how hard but fun it is ! I mean lots of videos show you slamming fish left an right on know honey holes. I like to see how real you always keep it.
Hey Jon- I suggest you fish north Florida, and an easy middle ground for that is Tallahasee. Southern stocked plantations, coast within 40 miles, urban ponds with great fish. I’d be happy to show you around. Let me know.
It would be so cool to see you go to lake Powell for a trip! There is so many species there you could try, along with some really big striped bass and catfish!
