In Episode 26, Bugsy shows us how to catch pelagic fish using lures and slice fresh sashimi. Fishing the Sydney rock ledges can be productive for a range of pelagic species. Autumn is a particularly good time to spin lures from the rocks for these tasty pelagic fish. Bugsy uses a range of lures to catch bonito and yellowtail kingfish. Rockfishing is a dangerous activity. Only fish from the rocks on the safest of days. Enjoy!

@@bugsyfishing I very much agree with @pumpkingheist1415 that a video like that would be great for beginners trying to find their own spots, with consideration to things like ideal depths for Pelagius like Bonnie’s, kings, macs etc. and structure e.g. are you casting onto sandy bottoms or lots of rocks or reef etc.

Which rod and rail do you use, do I have to get any permission to fish out here in Sydney?
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
Hi Mario, this rod is an Ocean Legacy Specialist 9'8" PE2-4 with a Shimano Stradic SW 6000 size reel. And yes, you need to get a NSW recreational fishing licence from Service NSW

I fillet Flathead for basic meals. Almost exclusively frying it with a dusting of flour. Sometimes rubbing in Harissa paste. Love this meat. One of my faves. Just to say, I’ve never once got sick in years of eating fish. Haven’t eaten sashimi often, but the cross contamination of bacteria, from carrying these meanies from say the gut cavity to the flesh or skin to flesh sounds a bit pedantic. I mean these complications could occur, but I would expect very rare, overly careful I reckon. Not really gonna happen. Have you been sick eating sashimi? Of course you live and fish in Sydney so probably, due to big city environment. More contaminants about.😊

Yes, cooking fish is much lower risk than sashimi. I have been sick from sashimi overseas. This is the way a few chefs taught me and yes, I guess they need to be careful not to make their customers sick

What's the website you are checking your swells on?
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
Hi Patrick, I use a few sites. The Manly Hydraulics Lab site is good for the buoy reading, although it is in the past. I.e., what happened not what is going to happen. There is also near shore modelling which provides a forecast of conditions. Nothing is perfect though. Always just predictions and should be taken with an abundance of caution. Hope that helps

Hi Ray, I mainly fish on the ocean ledges both on the northern beaches and south side. The harbour has some good spots and fish too. Just don't eat the fish west of the harbour bridge
