I can see you've never lost a rod and reel into the deep abyss of a lake with a giant fish attached. I lost a brand new spinning rod in a little boat at Lake Amador in CA to a massive trout because I turned my back for one second. The way it whipped out of the boat and got pulled under gives me nightmares. I don't think I'll ever leave a rod unattended or unsecured again.

A little piece of advice, as an avid snook fisherman I’ve worked giant snook out of pilings before. And when they get on the piling you actually loosen your drag to limit fray and tension therefore less chance of breaking.

One of the best live baits in fresh and brackish water are fat sleeper gobies...in my experience..superior to mud minnows, shiners and even finger mullet. I've landed huge speckled trout, reds, largemouth, channel cats and even stripers. Easily caught in most freshwater/brackish creeks, streams, ditches that branch off rivers or large creeks from coastal (not literally on coast but slightly inland fresh and brackish creeks) NC all the way to Tx. Minnow traps, cast nets, hand nets and small hook/line with piece of worm, shrimp or bread work well. Also make excellent aquarium fish and aquarium enthusiasts will pay top $$ for them.

You should go bank fishing but flip live baits without weights or bobbers on structure and let them sit for like 20 seconds and recast so it more active, and you would definitely catch more fish. Loving the live bait videos though!

Haven_ depending on the time of the year a bigger fish will only exert energy for one giant meal rather than trying to eat goldfish crackers all day. They usually pick the 10 ounce sirloin

I've done a lot of live bait fishing in ponds and I have some tips that I use if you want to try. I use a way bigger cork than what you used and I put brim about a ft or less below the cork. Trying to keep it close to the top of the water. The brim I use is no bigger than your 4 fingers. I've caught a ton of huge bass like that. I've always used big wide gap hooks never tried a circle hook but I'll try those.

If you have big cut bait if you want you could put the tip of the hook through like normal but then push the straight part of the hook through the bait where the tip of hook faces the meat and then push the tip through the meat where the middle of the curved part of the hook is the only part showing on one side

Channel cats like to play with their food before eating it. Hook that cut bait a little lower to keep them from stealing it off the hook and wait till it bends the rod for 2-3 seconds before reeling down on it.

Use splitshot weights and keep the fish hooks behind the fin, that keeps them suspended right of the bottom and that’s how I get my biggest on live, though I don’t use it that often

Use a 3 way swivel with a 3 oz weight, use weight leader and hook leader lengths so that the bait will be near the bottom

Definitely need a barrel swivel, them big ol cats roll like gators! I usually put the swivel 2 foot up then tie 12-15 braided as a lead off the swivel! They like to go through all sorts of junk helps having abrasion resistant line! Great Video Though! Fish On! 🎣

so i have been using the bluegill technique for a while and the best way to do it is catch a small bluegill, hook it through its lips to keep it alive with a big circle hook, put a sinker on the line, and throw it to the center of the pond or the deepest part. garunteed big cats and bass

I bottom fish live bait with a Carolina rig, circle hook through the belly, if you go through the back with a weight down below, he’ll turn upside down when he swims. Belly hook for bottom, back hook for the bobber

Cat fishing is all I ever used to do, along with some bass fishing. Made me laugh watching you afraid of the little kitty. That second one was nice! You’re an awesome fisherman! Learned a lot about bass fishing from you. I always slip up behind dorsal fin and squeeze it’s side bones to hold catfish. It can still smack u with your tail but can’t jag u with it’s fins. You can lip them but their teeth are like sandpaper and if you let it slip it’ll skin you up pretty good
