Catching LEGAL RED SNAPPER In State Waters- Finding Spots Within 3 Nautical Miles Of Shore!
In this video we go out with a mission to check some spots I was able to locate on the Avionics website. We were not expecting much, but ended up having an awesome day. Kids were reeling fish up left and right in 32ft of water and we were able to get some nice legal Red Snapper within 3 miles of shore! Doesn't get much better than that! Good Video, I have caught a few undersized nearshore. As you said there are so many they will get closer to shore as they consume all the other fish . Even had one come right to the back of the boat and eat a small flounder I was reeling in. Thanks for the video.

Hell yeah,ive tried a handful of times ,havent had success yet but i do know there is a few spots around mattanzas inlet , goning to have to give it another shot ! Gotta get the snapper numbers down one way or another!

Really don’t think so. At a 75lb daily limit. I highly doubt it. Pretty messed up actually. Our fish averaged 20lbs yesterday. So 3-4 fish for a commercial guy?

Ive got a fair amount of spots within 3 miles that we catch good red snapper, but the headache you have to go through if you get stopped by fwc is not worth it. Only do it maybe 10 times a year.

You’re absolutely spot on that Red Snappers are vicious feeders. They’re out competing against everything. I for one am a huge fan of sea bass and groupers. Few of the captains are also confirming that there are less groupers/sea bass over the years. Just for the ecosystem and diversity sake, red snappers needs to be controlled. Otherwise those jokers will be inshore eventually….

Unless they see you keeping red snapper beyond 3 miles off you should be fine. You can go further offshore fishing and still keep red snapper inside of 3 miles either on the way out or on the way back in. Nothing in the regulations say you have to limit your fishing trip to within the 3 mile range, though as mentioned it is the best way to prove where you caught them if an FWC officer does not believe you.

I'd prefer two 12 inch mangrove snapper to even one 20 inch red snapper!

Yeah I like mangroves as well. But red snapper are good eating as well. Would shy away from either one fresh. Tight lines

Well that's just great you're going to save so much fuel when the season opens in July by staying in state waters but don't worry about the red snapper because the commercial season opens I believe three days a head of the recreational season so I'm sure they're gonna put a good size dent in the snapper in six months so rest a sure there's somebody going to be working on it to reduce the population for you

The commercial snapper limits are really not a lot honestly. But hey -it is what it is. Wish them well and hope they crush it those days. Much respect to our commercial guys

It's 190 days straight 80 pounds a day my calculations are 15,000 pounds of red snapper in their season and I can only keep one fish something don't add up here

@@fishydubsfishing6516 no its actually 75lbs per trip not per day and the acl is 124000lbs total which is half of the recreational acl. Yes the government thinks that recreational fisherman will catch 250000 pounds of red snapper in one day. Which is 25000 individual snapper at a 10lb average. The problem is they predict that every snapper caught dies. This isnt a recreational vs commercial issue even though alot of people act like it is. Its just another way we are further divided.

@@fishydubsfishing6516 yeah so take at least 1/3 out for weather, and 80lbs of snapper a day isn’t enough for a commercial fisherman to maintain a rig and the licenses. Amberjsck is the saving grace for that permit now that grouper is closed as well. They want us all eating farm raised tilapia from Indonesia….

I figured I’d get some feedback, but I have been to these spots numerous times and only caught a handful of times over the years so no big deal. Also the snapper will be thick inshore here soon anyway

@@JackedUpFishing pretty work half these folks can’t use a gps finder, let alone fish for them. I say give up the state spots and shove it down the fed and commercial guys throat! Sick of the stupid unjustified closer! The population is way better than the muttons and now all the mutton breeders are gone and no management for them. Feds as usual don’t know how to manage shit and only on the take!
