Catching Marlin on a 14 Foot Skiff Off California 

2006 in Southern Cal was an "epic" year for pelagics. Great video. Saw a few Marlin on paddies, and watched a few get farmed, but never hooked anymyself. Dream season, with the warmest water I have ever seen here in SO Cal.. What a season.

That must be a truly awesome experience. First of all, just to be able to reach fish like that in a skiff is a treasure that most people will never know. Just to have a shot at fish like that costs us several hundred dollars in fuel. That is a great video. Looks like ya'll are using Torium 30's.....is that true. GREAT FISHING!!!!!

well just know your limit, My bro and I are experience boat handlers and been around boats all our lives, both having captain licenses. Make sure you know the weather, we check on when and how much wind will come up for that day, and tells up when we need to head in. Make sure your comfortable in the boat, like have a enough fuel, safety equipment, the boats handling capabilities in rough weather and your abilities. just use your best judgment.

there's no secret spot for them since they swim freely in the ocean, it's all about the time of year, water temps, temp breaks and bait that bring them into our area. Their not there every year, only one was caught last summer in southern california. just have to know the conditions. High spots are a good start on finding them

Thats pretty down, we rented the 14ft skiff from Davies Locker off Balboa Island and can't even go out that far. Props! We probably only went a mile from the Jetty

If you know what you are doing it's not that big of a deal. People take inflatables out farther than that. It's all about experience. :)
