Hey Martin. I am a very satisfied owner of Lowther PM6A since 1995. I built cabinets designed by Ketil Parrow from Norway. It’s been close to 30 years an they sound ever so good Yes I have had to get them repaired once in a while as due to the local humid weather the voice coil tend to break. Luckily I have found a source locally who can fix it. Lowther for life is a very apt slogan for this incredible speaker manufacturer. Good luck in your endeavour to keep the brand singing. Cheers🍻

The entire rebranding with the classical cabinets is absolutely stunning. PM7 8ohm , silver is my end game dream for its great linearity . Hope to visit the factory showroom one day.

I'm so very glad to see someone pumping up such a critical component within the hi-fi industry. Some of the most jaw dropping speakers I ever heard were the glorious Lowthers in the 1990s.

Mr Thornton, wholeheartedly, thank you for saving Lowther. Although other imitators/ competitors have made progress over the years, there are some unique advantages of the Lowther drivers that I would not drop, in favor of theirs. The double-sided voice coil and the beautiful shape of the basket rim for instance. That said and being a Lowther lover for sure, I do believe the drivers need to progress. Ugly cone (sound) colorations should be taken care of and damped. Foam quality of surrounds and spiders should be improved. Voice coil centering can be perfect down to 8Hz or even finger-push. It CAN! It's a pitty to hear it rubbing and find out that the HiFerric is partially abbrased! Perhaps you should strive to improve the last, highest octave with a more puristic approach than a separate super-tweeter. All these are possible and I believe, should the great, ingenious, initial inventor Paul Voigt still live, or even if, merely, his spirit of invention and innovation would live on and followed by a newer team, the Lowther driver would be amazingly good and unsurpassed today. A DX5, with a bigger neodymium magnet than the DX4, would catch-up with some serious competition from Poland. Other loudspeaker designs (like transmission lines) less colored and messy than horns should be tried and developed. The Lowther driver, I say this by experience, can really, really shine but, as is, it's just a raw diamond! I admit the folded back whizzer-cone was an improvement, as was also the HiFerric. But it's rather too little over many decades, isn't it? Anyway, thank you again for keeping the legend alive, this alone is already a lot!

A transmission line on a Lowther? If you're talking about Cube re: Poland, they are such a different proposition. I have a pair of the 8" ceramic ones and I heard them next to some DX(3?) both on Voigt pipes (Cube's were folded, Lowther's were straight) and I'll tell you, they could hardly be more different. I ended up buying the Cubes, because they were cheaper and already in cabinets they were compatible with. But that certain something a Lowther delivers is still part of the dream. The new Lowther are doing new diaphragms as an option, would be very edifying to hear them.

@@weatheranddarkness Cubes cheaper than Lowthers? I think even their simpler, older, ceramic magnet drivers (without cabinet) are at the price of DXs! And yes, I was refering to their claim of 2,4 Tesla strength (magnetic flux) for their top neodymium motor. Lowther neodymium motors are 2,2 Tesla, for DX4. Of course Lowther has already, long ago, achieved this with the PM4 Alnicos, but the motor is too bulky and heavy for the frame to bear without additional support. An even stronger neo motor would be easy to make.

Hello Martin. Imported your new PM6 drivers to China, from you. Got the Acousta 116 cabinets built locally by your recommended agent. Tried paring with a Reisong A10 SET amplifier, which proved underwhelming. Then obtained a Line Magnetic SET amplifier at five times the cost, which hummed a lot. Was returned. Over the holiday period, will take my Lowther speakers to the Cayin factory showroom, down the road, in Zhuhai (southern China).
